I got this in the email today, one part states "it is our intention in this process not to increase the overall price" yet another part states "For your information, the price of any unfulfilled order placed before April 9, 2001, will be unchanged".

As a valued BlackStar customer, we would like to tell you about a change in BlackStar's current shipping policy. In order to help emphasise the great value we think our service represents, on April 9, 2001, BlackStar will be separately identifying shipping costs from the cost of the goods.
Please note these costs are simply being separately identified, this is not an additional charge and it is our intention in this process not to increase the overall price paid by you as a customer.
For example:
Current site display -
Ultraviolet (DVD) 24.99
After change -
Ultraviolet (DVD) 23.59
Postage & Packaging 1.40

SAME OVERALL PRICE 24.99
In this competitive market, we believe this change helps highlight the true value available at BlackStar compared to our competitors who often add their postage charges at the end of the checkout process.
To that end BlackStar will be implementing a postage policy that is easy to understand, transparent and reflects actual postage and handling costs.The key issues we have considered in this change are that:
o Actual postage costs for companies like BlackStar are based on the weight of items shipped. We have therefore adopted a model that reflects this by having a fixed charge for each type of item shipped.
o Many sites hide the postage charge until the final checkout stage, therefore hiding the true cost of the order. We will be implementing a transparent system whereby all postage charges are displayed at all stages of the buying process.
o One of our objectives in this process was not to increase prices. The same postage charges will apply to all customers, no matter where they are located, and the current site prices will be reduced to reflect this.
For your information, the price of any unfulfilled order placed before April 9, 2001, will be unchanged.
