I live in R1 but travelled recently to R2 where I picked up many R2 discs to play on my multi region player. Everything plays but not always to specifications. Some widescreens play fullscreen stretched and some play widescreen but smushed slightly. Any thoughts? Or should I just stick to my R1's?

Also - the special features seem to play fine, it's just the actual films that are off.

It could be a player problem; if you're watching an anamorphic disc on a 4:3 television, you have to set the player to "Letterbox" mode, otherwise it will stretch the picture out to fill the screen. Assuming you've got that all set up righ and it still doesn't work properly, there's one other factor; all European R2 discs are in PAL format; the US uses NTSC, so you have to either have a player which can out put PAL as NTSC, or you have to have a TV which can accept a PAL input.
