Got no idea where to put this so this will be a good place to start.

Seeing as most online shops charge in the vicinity of '$6 + $2 per disc' to ship down here, I was wondering if it would be cheaper to ship to someones place in the states (especially seeing as quite a number of sites have free domestic shipping) and then shipping a larger order down here in one go.

Also, a lot of the best prices are from shops like buy.com and 800.com who won't ship down here anyway.

Anyone have any ideas on what I'd save or if this is worth doing? Or even where to ask this question?

Thanks peoples! Carry on...

e-tailers are definitly jacking up the postal rates to this part of the world to well over what it really costs. If you know someone who can be trusted to post to you,and you don't mind waiting even longer than before for your stuff, then by all means,go ahead.
Or you could do what I do,and just use one of those $10 off coupons at barnes and nobles(bn.com)on every order. It pretty much wipes out postage if you buy two DVDs at a time.
Or try dvdboxoffice.com for R1,or blackstar.co.uk for R2....they both have free international shipping.
dvdplus.co.uk only charge real cost price on shipping...1pound 50for La Reine Margot recently.
I hope this helps

Yeah, I got a few places I can ship to over there.

I still reckon the mail is overpriced on most of these sites.

They don't ship outside Europe! And i think once i saw a banner add here on DVDtalk about some online deal that stocks your orders and you can order them to mail it to you!The cost of that mailbox or the shipping i did not find out.Maybe someone can help a bit right here.I had to ask some US dvdtalk members to help me buy stuff cause some online dealers dont ship overseas!

HI DVD-FANS!

try www.dvdboxoffice.com! Free shipping and (at least to europe) no 16% import fees like most of the suppliers. Also smart packing(=>no fees) at www.dv-depot.com. Many good reports about these 2 shops.

Greetings,
ET
