Hey all

I recieved my perfect storm from amazon yestreday with a customs charge of £5.80!!!

But the postman just delivered the parcel through my letterbox as per usual.
My question is, do I have to go to the post office to settle the charge or should he have asked the money from me when he delivered???

I dont want the police knocking down my door at 5am over £6 .

How did u guys pay for urs???

cheers

Posties are meant to get the payment when they deliver the stuff, so if he just posted it through your door, then you've gotten away without paying customs. Lucky you. I'm not 100% sure on the legal situation, but I've certainly never heard of anyone being made to pay charges after the postie's delivered a package. For £6, they probably just decide that it's not worth the hassle of messing about trying to redeliver it later and/or arranging for you to pick it up at the sorting office...

Usually you'd get a card and have to pick the item up from the post office and pay charges, you got lucky.

This also happened to me the only time I've been hit for customs.

Which version of Perfect Storm did you get?

That’s a lot for one disc. It usually works out with all the ridiculous extra charges they tag on, that you end up paying about 25-30% on top of the value of whatever you ordered. If you just ordered the regular edition of The Perfect Storm you shouldn’t incur any charges at all as it’s under the oh so sensible £18 (why not £20 for God’s sake?) limit they allow you before taxing you into debtors prison.

I’ve also had several packages (usually CDNow) that have been stamped as if duty is liable but Postman Pat just treats them as regular mail and leaves them without asking for payment. Doesn’t happen that often but it sure is nice when it does.

Thanks for the replies guys

Its the only time ive been stung for customs so that was lucky!!!

It was amazons fault really cause I asked them to mark the package as gift, but they didnt!!
They marked it as merchandise.

Ive already emailed them about it and havent recieved a reply yet.

By the way Johnathan, I ordered deuce bigalow with the perfect storm - forgot to mention it. So the value was > £18

Got it when amazon had that sale for certain dvds at 50% off

Btw what versions are there of the perfect storm??? All ive heard of is the one with the book.

I just got the bog standard one from amazon

Cheers all
