Does anyone know of any good online DVD stores in Canada? I'm specifically looking for stores similar to Amazon.com, Buy.com, Half.com, etc. that offer special deals on merchandise.

So far the only decent site I have found is Videoflicks.ca.

Thanks.

DVD Box Office is the most widely-used one, I think, and I've very rarely heard anything other than praise for them. Also good are www.dvddynamic.com who I've used many times and never had a problem with.

Have a list of canuck-friendly DVD etailers at: http://goldfishlegs.com/SHOP/sDVD/sdvd.htm

The one's mentioned above are good for international users because of the free shipping, but if you're in Canada, lower-priced etailers are available.

Futureshop.ca has a weekly 50% off DVD which is good, Chapters almost always has coupons available and couple others have all-around good prices - check the list for the full scoop.

Thanks! That was very informative and helpful. I have already checked out some of the sites and they seem really good.

The Best site in Canada has to be FUTURE SHOP www.futureshop.ca

Check the deals out there. Cannot match anywhere else. I have ordered so much from them.

Shipping is free over $50. If you live in the Toronto area, you get them in 2 days...pretty good.

I LOVE THAT SITE!!!!!!!!!!!!

A warning on DVD box office, They are very slow at shipping, around 20 working days. They take about 7 working days to reply to your emails. They take the money out of your account before it ships! They don`t tell you the stock they have e.g I ordered a dvd about 3 weeks ago they took the money out of my account and did`nt either bother telling me that it was out of stock. Still waiting.
The only good thing about them is the free shipping but i would rather pay a bit extra and have it shipped to me within 5 days.
The BOTTOM line is that dvdbox office are shite.

Well I have personally used DVD Boxoffice many, many times in the past and have never had a problem with them until a few weeks ago.

I currently have 2 dvds that have been in transit for 22 days, 3 that have been in transit for 15 days and some just over a week. In the past I always got my dvdbox packages within 2 weeks. I mailled them about the delays and they said

"We Ship via England and there is currently a minor postal problem which is causing packages to be delayed, even though you are in England you will probably not have heard of this because it is only minor".

I told them that I have received stuff from amazon fine in the past couple of weeks so any problem must be isolated to canada but all they would say was that I'd get my dvds and if they dont arrive after 8 weeks they will reship them.

All sounds a bit dodgy to me.

I have been ordering 5-8 dvds a month from them for about 14 months with no problem (usually takes around 6 days from shipment to arrive in the UK).

Then in the last month I have had 8 dvds confirmed as shipped but none of them have arrived and after contacting them I received the following message:

"We Ship via England and there is currently a minor postal problem which is causing packages to be delayed, even though you are in England you will probably not have heard of this because it is only minor".

This seems to a bit of a lie as there is no strike and as of 29th Oct 2000 23:30 GMT the site seems to be down.

I will be contacting my credit card company in the morning to notify them of the companies’ actions.

For DVD deals, Chapters had some great deals on some... even at the same price in CDN that Amazon had in US for 1 or 2. Goldfish had a link on his site because Chapters never announced the deals publicly and only sent it to members. For Canadian stuff, I use Goldfish for the info.

DVDBoxOffice sends me VERY curt one-line emails that look like they were written by 18yo punks who seem to think you owe them a favor.

They gave me a lot of grief over sending my credit card statement to verify the authenticity of my card, which I had no problem with (I replied to their request within an hour), then they told me some nonsense about not being able to open attachments (it was a .jpg scan) because of virus issues. ?!

I eventually decided to cancel my order after several more exchanges with them that sounded exasperatingly like GROUNDHOG DAY.

I don't like to feel that I'm being obliged when I'm patronising a store, etailer or B&M retailer alike.

So I would stay away from DVDBoxOffice unless they have something I can't find elsewhere, or that which is DIRT cheap.
