I have Next Friday that was shipped 3 weeks ago and still not arrived - what dya think my chances are of a refund?
I contacted them, but no word as of yet....

If you haven't received you order one calendar month from the shipping date, contact your credit card company and begin the claims process. That's what I intend to do. There's absolutely no point in contacting reel anymore, they just send you out a 'standard' e-mail reply that usually answers none of the questions you've asked them. I don't know what is going on at the moment, but there is an unusally long delay in receiving shipments. It may be customs, it may be lost shipments, but I think we have all suffered for long enough over this 'reel' shammbles. Make your claims and you could get lucky - get your money back and receive the discs!
...of course, you'll then have to inform your c.c company and give the money back!!

haggis all well and good if we’re talking about goods recieved directly from the States, but as far as I’m concerned my Reel packages are/were sent from Amsterdam, within the EC, therefore no customs or vat is applicable.

I said above that I had received Fight Club from Reel on Monday but what I did not say was that I had been charged £5.44 from customs AND it had the usual sticker (as posted up above). I did not argue with the guy at the post office cause all he was doing was following instructions from customs.

Your mileage appears to have varied, unless your idea of being "held up" is quite different from mine.

Most of my purchases from Reel have spent about a week in the post. But a significant number have taken more than twice that. And one took more than four weeks. (I'm not counting two parcels that never arrived and Reel had to resend...)

None, of course, have attracted any charges, and this includes big box sets. Reel were great (when they had coupons!).

I'm not sure on what the exact legal situation is with respect to this, but I have been told (although not officially) that such goods are technically liable to duty/VAT as they are actually bought (by you) from the US, paid for in the US, and originally shipped from the US (just peel off the NL postage label and this is blatantly obvious). They are only passing in transit through another EU country.

I suspect that lack of collection is, as somebody suggested earlier, due to lack of resources on the part of C&E and concentrating on direct non-EU shipments for revenue purposes.

What might help would be if somebody could translate that yellow sticker shown above.

Just to add, Fair play to reel.com - I received a refund for Next Friday this mroning, plus another of those useless $10 store credits that us International users have no chance of ever cashing in!
Well done to reel.com, nice to see the customer service lives on regardless....

Welshlad, what e-mail address did you use and did you ask for a refund or did they just give you one anyway? Also, when did your order - Next Friday - actually ship, as I am waiting for four discs shipped on May 31st, June 3rd(x2) and June 7th. Have I waited long enough or should I sweat it out a bit longer?!

Reel won't even talk to you about missing orders until 30 days after they shipped. You'll need to sit tight for another week or so yet.

Anyone received their copy of Cliffhanger from Reel yet?

I'm awaiting Cliffhanger too

I am also waiting for Sleepy Hollow which was shipped on 20/5. I've sent two e-mails to Reel without a reply. Any suggestions?

The odd thing is another title which was also shipped on the same day arrived within that week, and all subsequent orders have arrived including one shipped the day after Reel closed.

Arrived today

Mine arrived Friday along with Desperately Seeking Susan. These were *sob* my last two Reel DVDs and as a token of respect for our departed friend I chose not to open them but have left them in the mailer in a small shrine I made from newspaper and string, where they will be permanently "arriving" everyday.
