Any good horror movies released outside of region 1?
I just bought a region-free player and am looking for some horror movies that haven't been released in the US that have english subtitles if it's language isn't english. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Congrats on going region-free!
Maybe if you share a little general information it might help in getting some suggestions to flow in. Maybe just an idea if you are looking for older vs. newer movies, European vs. Asian, violent/gore horror vs. psychological, etc., or maybe share the names of some horror films you consider favorites.
Just trying to get the thread rolling for you.
One recent movie I liked is POSSESSED aka LIVING DEATH aka DISBELIEF HELL (the IMDb listing)...and I think it has a couple more alternate titles too. It's a 2009 Korean film that I picked up via Korean DVD, but maybe check around to make sure it hasn't been released or slated for release in the U.K., U.S., Hong Kong, etc. I think I wrote a little about the movie in an old "What are you watching in International cinema" thread in this forum.

Haha, I suppose some info would help.
I'm not the biggest fan of Asian horror. I am a fan of European horror though. I'm really into violent and gory movies. And I'm probably setting myself up to be flamed, but I'm not a fan of pre-1970's horror. Anything 1970 and beyond is fair game though. And as far as some of my favorite horror movies go, I'm really into slashers and exploitation so I would love some suggestions pertaining to those two. As for specifics, I'll just provide a quick list of a few I really like:
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
Re-Animator
Thriller: A Cruel Picture
Day of the Dead (as well as Night and Dawn, but Day is my favorite)
Martyrs
Again, thanks for any suggestions!

i think the UK version of BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR is 16x9...you might want that.
i'd check out the UK company SHAMELESS - they put out a lot of exploitation not available in the US
DEAD SET - awesome UK zombie mini-series

These movies are available in R1, but I would check amazon.uk to see if they're cheaper there:
Frontier(s): French TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, basically
Them (Ils): French home invasion flick
Inside: French movie about a pregnant woman who finds herself fighting against a madwoman. VERY bloody.

Blood on Satan's Claw - R2
Don't Look Now (R2 SE superior to American release, but announced as an upcoming Studio Canal Blu-ray)
The Hammer Collection (21 discs and usually had for dirt cheap on Amazon UK)
The Shout
Valerie and her Week of Wonders
Creepshow (Stacked R2 SE)
They Live (R2 has featurette and Carpenter/Piper commentary)

As much I love John Carpenter, I don't know that Prince of Darkness is what I'd call a good movie.

I just scored a copy of Return of the Living Dead, the Tartan UK version with the original audio for $8. Kick-ass!
