RIP: Jean Rollin - filmmaker - 1938-2010
Just read the news on the passing of French filmmaker Jean Rollin:

I've watched fifteen of Jean Rollin's films. My favorite is LA ROSE DE FER (1973) aka ROSE OF IRON aka THE IRON ROSE. From the interview extras on some of the DVDs, Jean Rollin seemed a nice fellow with a sincere love for cinema.

That's unfortunate, I liked his schlocky arthouse style. RIP

I just watched The Shiver of the Vampires and found it quite enjoyable. Nice soundtrack/score too.

This Jean Rollin movie - THE IRON ROSE (1973) - is airing on the U.S. TCM cable channel this coming Friday night (technically Saturday morning) at 2am.
Following are a couple of links to TCM articles concerning the movie:

This second link is the same one as mentioned in the first article above - a link to Jeff Stafford's essay:

Thanks for the info, I'll be sure and set my DVR. I still need to watch a few of those beautiful Encore sets I picked up cheap from Xploited Cinema when they first announced they were closing shop. Man, I wish I had the time to watch them and I also wish XC was still around. I tried to support them the best I could, but I was, and still am, a poor college student. RIP both.

Glad to be of service.
Yup, I have those Encore releases as well...pretty sets indeed.
As to Xploited, I certainly wish they had stayed in the game a little longer. I don't necessarily believe it was entirely a matter of not having good customer support from folks like us; Tony just got tired of doing it. Though, looking back, it seems he timed things right as I don't know how long he could have continued with all the different options (downloading, etc.) now so prevalent. So many online e-tailers are disappearing, heck, Sensasian just announced a few days back that they were closing. Final note regarding Xploited, it looks like Tony is about to clear out the last of his old inventory. He has been having a final store closing-type sale since late Summer...not really much left on-hand. But maybe someone reading might find something of interest among the eclectic leftovers.
