Beat Takeshi is back in a Yakuza role. It's not on DVD yet but was wondering if any of our worldly members got a chance to see it in theaters and what they thought of it.

It only just premiered at Cannes.... be patient. I'm planning to see it next month though

I am so waiting for this film! It's getting great reviews in Cannes (out of competition).

It's also gottien some bad reviews from some, saying it's either too violent, difficult to empathize and disturbing to watch, or some saying it just isn't what they expected and were disappointed.

There were walkouts at Cannes, and there wasn't the usual long standing ovation....

When the Japanese press asked Kitano why the French love him so much he said, "I guess they are bad people too. And they are stingy. Just like me! This is not going to translated to French is it?!"

Twitch gave it a good review, I generally agree with Todd.

I guess I jumped the gun a little. When it does come in Japan - please post your opinions about it. I'm really looking forward to this.

What, they've never seen a Takeshi Kitano film before? To Kitano fans, those are big draws!
