Help a international Noob
Hey guys. I'm looking at buying some blu rays from amazon uk, and am having a hard time finding info on what titles are going to work in my region 1 player. I dont really understand the difference between PAL and region encoding. Can someone help me out. These are ones I was looking at.

PAL is related to DVD material only. HD material does not have the speed-up issue. However, many BD discs do have the movie in HD, so no PAL issues, but if the extras are in standard def, could be PAL. Sounds like your Phillips does not play PAL material in addition to not being region free. So you can order stuff you know is region free - and will only be able to play the movie. I don't know of any site that will tell you what discs have PAL material on it though. There are some sites that will tell you what blu rays are region free, although I can't think of any off-hand at the moment.
