I liked it, it was one of the better horror flicks I've seen recently. Definitely puts Romero's latest "...of the Dead" to shame. It's more in the vein of 28 Days Later with the fast undead. I've actually seen a couple seasons of UK's Big Brother, so it was funny to see cameo's by some houseguests and you get to see the host in an entirely new way.
I recommend it, but as far as extras go I can't comment. Though they don't sound all that exciting.
-Sneak Peeks Behind the Scenes
-A Tour of the Set
-Special Effects Featurettes
-Interviews with Cast and Crew
...the movie runs 138min, while the extras are 56min

thanks dino. but i thought this was a short series, IMDb lists as 5 episodes. does it play out like a movie and have a definitive ending?

They aired it as a miniseries around Halloween last year. It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I watched it all at once and if it weren't for the credits at the end of each part, it would've played out perfectly as a feature (considering how short each part was compared to miniseries here in the States). It wasn't meant to be an ongoing series, so it does have a definitive ending.

I loved this, it's probably the best zombie film since Day of the Dead. The five episodes play out as a three hour movie essentially. It's dark, grim, and depressing (in a good way) there is humor but it's very gallows, and more in keeping with the dark humor of Romero's original trilogy.
This is everything the remake of Dawn of the Dead wanted to be but wasn't.

Damn, this is sitting on my shelf and I never got to watch it. Seems like it's time to do that this weekend.

i didn't watch this series. know charlie brooker's tv stuff though - check the series credit for him as writer of this - and he's done some other fine stuff as a presenter and writer. know that this had some good reviews and that it's also been repeated recently as a shortened film-like version. has been shown in america and elsewhere too, i believe. worth seeing if you like the genre.

Around Halloween, a buddy and I were discussing our top zombie films. Dead Set made my lists both for the decade and for all time. Yes, it has fast zombies, but it's to serve the story and not just because the director thinks slow zombies are stupid. And, as you'd expect coming from a noted satirist, it definitely has something to say, though the message never gets in the way of it being scary and fun.

I have to pick this up sometime.
A friend of mine said she liked it but she wanted everyone in the show to die

I watched this early last month after receiving the DVD from Amazon UK, and what can I say? I suppose I could best sum it up by just saying wow. Dead Set is a brilliant serial, not to mention the best damn thing to come out of the UK's horror scene in well over a decade. I really appreciated the nihilism on display here. There's satire, and it's spot-on, but make no mistake about it, this is a bleak piece of work. I also got a kick out of the nods to Romero's films, like
The use of the Big Brother house is very inspired, and depending on how you look at it, the fact that the contestants are the only ones who are safe just adds to the depressing nature of the series.
That brings me to the characters. Most of them are annoying, as they should be. The only 100% likable character in the series is Alex. Then there's Patrick, who is an over the top nutcase, but he's lots of fun to watch. If I have one complaint, it's that they killed
off far too quickly.
Anyway, I watched all five episodes back to back. At about 140 minutes complete with "previously on" intros, this feels like one big zombie epic. I loved the absolute hell out of it.

I'm not sure of the difference besides 5GBP. I bought the cheap one and just finished watching it based on the recommendations from this thread. It is excellent.

Finally watched this one myself and really enjoyed it. It's a great premise. You could take out the zombies and still have a halfway decent film.

For Amazon UK's current price for the original release, I couldn't resist. Finally ordered this.
