Kinowelt put out two versions (DVD) of the first film in Germany.
The version inside of this box set was the theatrical cut.

according to reviews on the German Amazon, part 1 is heavily cut, and Scream 2 is in the wrong aspect ratio.

I really hope that Aussie Blu-Ray release is the full Uncut version. I'll probably wait for a review of some sort before dropping an order.
Probably order it from EzyDVD if it is.

Great.. thanks for the info! I'm reading that there are two boxed sets of the Trilogy (German releases), one has the uncut and one doesn't. Can anyone confirm that there is a cut version of this film on Blu-ray? Thanks! Rick

They then released a DVD Trilogy Box Set (R2), which (oddly enough) had the Theatrical Cut and not the Uncut Version.
They also released two different Blu-Ray sets apparently. One Uncut Box (which is sold in German Stores, not online) and one Theatrical Box.
More info on this is found here:

Well, I broke down and ordered the Scream Trilogy (Blu-ray) from a company in Austria that supposedly sells the trilogy with the uncut version of Scream 1. I already have the Uncut DVD so I'll compare the two once it comes in and post the results here.

Re: Scream Trilogy to hit Blu-ray in Germany!
Ok.. received my trilogy set today. Disc one is definitely the theatrical cut, NOT the unrated cut. Still, it's a great disc and the uncut version is only a few seconds (6 seconds I believe) longer.
Also, the discs are indeed Region B locked. Nothing AnyDVD and a Blu-ray burner can't fix!! ;-)
Not sure when this will be released in the US, so I'm very glad I purchased the set. Always loved these movies.

Nope.. it's only 6 seconds difference. Each of those cut scenes is only a couple of seconds each and really doesn't add anything to the overall movie. I have both on dvd. You can see the reviews of each at (dvdcompare.net):
http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=201
It states on the sight that it's 6 seconds longer. I'm totally happy with the blu-rays.
Here's the total difference between the two:
General info about the Director's Cut:
The "Director's Cut" is 6 seconds longer then the "R-Rated Theatrical" version. It includes additional gore which Wes Craven had to cut out to achieve an R-Rating in the US. The scenes missing from the "R-Rated Theatrical" version are: (SPOILERS!)
- The close-up of Steve's intestines as they fall from his stomach.
- The camera speeding towards Casey as she hangs from the tree. In the uncut version, the camera goes towards her at normal speed, but the cut version is time compressed to give a rushed look. This is definitely the cut version as the camera rushes in in a very jerky and fast manner.
- Tatum's head being crushed by the garage door. From what I can see this is in the movie as I can see her head crush, but perhaps more is seen in the uncut version.
- Kenny looking up at the killer after his throat is cut.
- Billy going berserk as he stabs Stuart.
- After Billy and Stuart stab each other, the uncut version shows a shot of Stuart's hand dripping blood into a puddle.
