Sorry, I wasn't aware of the recent released R1 Industrial/Ryko disc, which seems to have the same commentary and a featurette. I'll probably just pick up that edition. Thanks though.

While I still can't convince myself to go back to them, CD-WOW has the Australian DVD release priced at $18.99, if you wait for a coupon or sale, then it will be even lower at $16.99...less expensive than ordering it from an Australian e-tailer and cheaper than the current pricing on the R1 DVD release.

The Australian DVD release is down to $11.99 at CD-WOW, throw in a voucher and that knocks it down to $9.99...might be worth a roll of the dice.

To follow-up on my previous post, I did take a chance and placed an order with CD-WOW. It took two-and-a-half weeks of waiting, but I did receive a shipping notice just the other day. So credit where credit is due, in this particular instance, CD-WOW did come through with a really good deal of $9.99 for the 2-disc Australian release.

Got around to watching this and I must say I was impressed. I might even tag it with a line such as "an Aussie Western that easily outshines THE PROPOSITION". I'm not surprised to note that Director Schepisi's follow-up effort was something more readily acknowledged as a Western - BARBAROSA (1982). Except for seeing a couple of familiar faces in their younger days, you could easily have convinced me that THE CHANT OF JIMMIE BLACKSMITH was made just last year instead of thirty years ago.

It's frustrating that Netflix has yet to add the Rykodisc release to the site...

According the the Australian review website MichaelDVD the Region 1 DVD is reported to be 1.66:1. I cannot confirm this as I´ve just ordered the 2-Disc from Australia, which is the best worldwide release.
