The pricing for HMV.co.jp is somewhat better than Amazon.jp but how does their service compare? I'm thinking of ordering about $175 worth of DVDs, so it's kind of a big deal for me...

I've used both sites a couple of times. The only notable difference that I recall is that the shipping prices on HMV are quotes not actual, which is somewhat annoying. Coincidentally, every time the quote was under actual and I was charged the difference. Once it was a $15 more.

So be wary on that end.

I've ordered from HMV a number of times and the service has always been fine.

My only complaint is that a few months ago they had a "Buy 2 Get 20% Off" sale that was blatant false advertising. The discount really only came to 10% off, and they raised all of their prices immediately before the sale (so the "sale" price was higher than the price before the sale). That really rubbed me the wrong way.

HMV.co.jp is one of the best out there in my view.

I have had six orders this year with them. Some included hard to get stuff and they got them, delivery is superb (EMS Courier) and invariably the actual shipping price has been below the quoted price. I got caught once with a higher shipping price but that was because I split the order as the one item was taking forever to get. But then again they shipped the item 2 days after they said it was deleted and no longer available... (which I knew when I ordered it but they still found one).

I have not ordered from HMV.co.jp but the one time that I ordered from Amazon.jp, they shipped it FedEx Priority International Parcel and the order arrived in Canada in two days. Shipping charges were about $20.00
