Time of the Gypsies (Emir Kusturica)
I have been looking for a DVD of this with english subtitles. I know they are around, but I haven't been able to find one. There are also two cuts of the film, one being about 4 and a half hours, which I would love to find but I think it has only ever been released in Serbia, and the other being a little over two hours, which is (I think) the version that played in festivals, won awards, and so on. I'd love to get either one if their available. I can't imagine what the 4 hour cut must be like. Kusturica's film's always have a really wonderful atmosphere to them, I'd love to spend 4 hours with one of them.
If anyone knows where either of these is available in English, I would greatly appreciate your help.

There are multiple threads on the topic. An English-friendly legit release of this film isn't available on DVD. The French disc is thus far the best treatment Kusturica's work has gotten.

Abserd, there have been ebay DVDs with English subtitles, but I think you know what kind of dvd that is...
Here's the French DVD for the Time of the Gypsies Opera...it's anamorphic, French stereo, no english subtitles...but since it's an opera, i don't think they would be that neccessary:

Its a shame this isn't too widely available. Kusturica is really an incredible, and important, director. He's won two Palme d'Ors, an honor that he doesn't share with too many others, yet only half is work is available in english.
I actually happened to come across an old VHS copy of this movie with english subs in my college's library a few days ago. I don't have a VCR with me unfortunately, but I'll get to see it soon enough, thankfully. Too bad for the full screen though.

Re: Time of the Gypsies (Emir Kusturica)
Time of the Gypsies, Anamorphic, English subtitles, Serbian 2.0 DVD now available from Korea! I bought it here on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Time-Gypsies-Dom...item230875c90e
(Note: It says Punk Opera on the cover, but it is actually the film.)
I bought it. I don't know if it's a Korean bootleg or not, but the video quality is fair and the English subtitles are fair as well.
MOVIE: 10
DVD VIDEO: 6
DVD AUDIO: 6
ENGLISH SUBTITLES: 6
