I'm really irked - my copy from YesAsia still hasn't arrived to my doorstep. This is like the third time the US mail service has 'lost' my mail, one from the UK, one from Xploited Cinema using media mail and now this - I'll give them a couple more days but if nothing turns up, heads will roll...

Just how "limited" is this set exactly?

Dude, no kidding. I don't know what kind of racket this "media mail" is, but I've lost countless shit due to people shipping using that. And it's no cheaper than first class mail, which I've never had a problem with.

I use Yesasia a lot, but haven't ever found any good coupons for them... nothing more than 5 bucks... and that's usually for new customers.

Also, if your order totals more than $50.00 one gets that $5.00 credit. Sometimes their prices are slightling higher but the free shipping usually compensates for the overall pricing. Since this is suppose to be the GRINDHOUSE thread I'll just mention that although I ordered my set from Amazon.jp I've never had any shipping issues with them even with their media mail process.

If ordering from Canada yesasia.com is a good choice, they mark their shipments as gifts, therefore no duty. Usually get them in a week too. My Grindhouse order from amazon Japan got within 60 miles of me in 24 hours, but FedEx still hasn't delivered it, been sitting that close for five days now! No more FedEx for me if I can at all help it. Had to pay $14 duty too!

You might want to check with FedEx as it should only take 2-5 business days to get to you. Mine was send out the Saturday before Easter and arrived the following Monday already.

I've been bugging FedEx since Tuesday, but thankfully it finally showed up this afternoon.

There was a couple loose discs in mine too, but the package is tight enough they weren't scratched.

It's a nicely done set. I'm hoping the DC discs have full bitrate DTS, doubt it, but you never know from Japan! Will check tonight after work.

I received my set from Amazon.Jp on Monday. Since I only have 1 dvd player that is region free, the first thing I did was reauthor it to be Region Free. The "Double Feature" dvd only has 2 menus, both in Japanese. Using DVDRemake I changed the menus so that they are now in English. I also turned the Japanese subtitles OFF by default. I then burned to a dual layer disc, so it's an exact copy that I can play on all my dvd players. Here's a couple of screenshots of the menus:

God Damn! This was worth every penny.

Glad I never purchased any of the standalone SD-DVDs.

Seriusly doubt any forth-coming US release will top this.

My only regret is not ordering from HMV to get the Machete poster.

I ordered one from Xploited. I had problems with Amazon.jp and my CC company, and since I know Xploited is the shit I went with them. Pretty good price too @ $98 shipped.

It's 18"x28". It comes folded, which isn't a problem since it's designed to look creased anyway. Here's a quick snapshot of it (sorry for the quality).

Just a piece of trivia--the R3 HK releases of DP and PT are full bitrate dts. They're the longer international edits as released in the U.S. Just thought some of you may like to know.

all the fake trailers are there. haven't gotten around to the 6th disc yet. And to repeat from earlier, the entire 3 hour movie is in 2:35;1.

Hey Scott,

As far as I can tell, all the menus are in Japanese (not too much of a problem for the movies themselves since you can always adjust the subtitles, audio, etc.. from within the movies), but tracking done something specific in the extras can be a bit difficult.

The bonus disc lengths are:
* Comic con special: 23:33
* Interview with QT: 12:28 (divided into parts or Play All)
* Cast Interviews: 37:49 (divided into parts of Play All)
* Another interview (EPK-type) with QT and RR about grindhouse: 3:58
* Behind the scenes: 19:02
* USA Trailer: 2:29

So a little more than an hour and a half of content on the disc (sorry if I mislabeled the contents above - I just skimmed through them so far).

I would've loved to have gotten the Machete poster had I known about it, but I still have a neat one from Comic Con that Trejo signed.

Does anyone happen to have an english translation for the menus? preferable pictures of the menus with english overlays?

so bottomline is you can't tell what extra you are clicking on on the 6th disc right?

Correct - Here's what the main menu of the 6th disc looks like:

It's not a big deal. Once you go over it once, you'll know exactly what and where everything is. Trust me, don't let something that minor keep you from picking up this set.
