Customs in Australia for DVDs from Deep Discount

Has anybody had experiences with customs in Australia?

I just ordered like $300 worth of DVDs from Deep Discount.
Is there anyway i will get away without being charged duty and stuff?

A couple of my items i've ordered a few multiples of for friends to save on shipping.

What is the deal?

I read up on it and looks like if i order multiple stuff i might be a little screwed...

Any help would be great.

Where are you from?
How do you know?

According to the website should be about 15-16%
I can take that...

It is pretty sucky but my fault...

You should be OK as long as the delivery is with the regular postal service and not a courier like Fedex or DHL.

Duty is calculated as 10% of the value of the goods plus shipping cost and if the total shipment is under A$1000 and the duty is less than A$50 then it is waived.

If the total is under $1000 and the shipping is normal airmail, then no customs charged. If it's via courier, then that is a different matter.

I hope you are right.
It just says on the customs website where multiple items are bought then customs will come into affect.

Do they say on the boxes they send what is inside?
like
4 X DVD 1 worth $50 each
2 X DVD 2 worth $20 each
1 X DVD 3 worth $10 each
etc

Or do they just have the address on the front?

Hopefully it is just the address...

If your order's under $1000 via airmail-don't worry about it. I order all the time from O/S and have never had a problem. Biggest order I ever had was about $600 and had no probs with customs.

Yeah, we really get hosed!

At least there's no Duty, just 14% tax (in Ontario). It's the $5 collection fee that pisses me off.

Thankfully my first lot of DVDs have come on with no customs attached! What a relief.
Still got a second lot to come though unfortunately worth about 300 again.

But they should get posted in about 48 hours as they weren't in stock.

But yay dvds are here!

Just this morning I received the Jodorowsky boxset from them. (listening to the El Topo soundtrack now at work...even that is tripping everyone out!)

No customs....never been charged anything....and I have ordered alot over the years

Now don't do anything silly like writing to customs enquiring about it!
