Best Mad Max 2?
DVD artwork gone bad
Which would be the best Mad Max 2 to buy? There seems to be multiple versions and I don't want the version known as Road Warrior and I'm sure all the other versions (Europe) are cut. Any fans out there with definitive information?

I have the R1 but here is a comparison of every version available. I'm going to wait it out until a better version comes out.

Thanks for that, looks fairly definitive. So the best DVD looks like the original Japanese DVD.
I'll just have to hold on to my old UK DVD for now.

Mad Max 2 unrated/uncut screen grabs.
I remember those scenes too especially the cutting scene which makes me think it was on TV or something. Strange. Maybe I'm just misremembering.

I don't have "definitive information" on a Mad Max 2/Road Warrior DVD, but I can add some information concerning the new R1 releases.
Warner Brothers have announced a HD-DVD and Blu-Ray release as well as a cheap looking standard DVD double feature (with Mad Max 3). See release info here:
HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, DVD
www.imdb.com lists the running times as follows:
The Warner site indicates that they will be 95 min, so I'm not sure if this is going to be the uncut version or not.
We need a definitive release of this movie now.....from any region!!You hear that Australia?

Thank you goosh for that info
Looks like we have a fully uncut Mad Max 2 complete with it's original name.
Sadly it's Blu-Ray and HD-DVD only and since my DVD player doesn't play those I'll not be buying obviously as I have 3000 other DVDs to watch.
Just have to wait for the SD-DVD release!

the original name is and was MAD MAX 2 - its just that the yanks didn't get onto the original MAD MAX (or understand our 'english dialect') until the success of the second film - therefore the re-naming. (try listening to MAD MAX and the 'dubbed' soundtrack !! - its terrible !!)

Yeah MM2 is original and that HD-DVD's case is wrong but if you read this thread and the thread link I posted you'll see I said I wanted MM2 and that someone said the HD-DVD does in fact have the correct name.
Hopefully you'll read what I just typed.

The original Mad Max actually played in the U.S. 2 years before MM2. I saw it when it was first released theatrically. I don't know why it was redubbed. The original sounded much better. There wasn't a point in the dialogue that wasn't understandable in it's original form.

I've been happy with the R2 Japan (long OOP box set) that I picked up years ago. If I get a 360 with HD-DVD quality I might try that upgrade though for the hell of it. That one night scene is just frustrating no matter what version you watch of it though.

But the RC4 Version (Australia) includes one of the unrated Scenes... the boomerang scene. This scene is in the RC2 DVD Version from Germany missing, although the german Version is r-rated. So if the RC4 DVD is r-rated, why is that boomerang scene in the movie?!
