R2 France Recommendations?

I am about to place a large order with and would like to gather your top recommendations for R2 French DVDs with English subtitles (and for English language films, removeable French subs). What are the must-have R2 French DVDs?

Maybe someone else can confirm these (also thinking of doing an purchase):

"Ivan's Childhood" Mk2 -- still the best?

"The Name of the Rose" 2-disc SE -- likewise?

"The Wind Will Carry Us"?

Looking forward to any suggestions in this thread!

It is very difficult to recommend DVDs and not films. If I were to know what genres you are interested in then I could perhaps make a few valid suggestions.

This being said there are quite a few discs in my collection that I absolutely believe represent the best French distribs have to offer (English friendly):

1. The Don Camillo Collection

2.En Cas De Malheur a.k.a Love is My Profession (splendid Bardot/Gabin tandem)

3.Le Mari de la Coiffeuse

4. L'Appartement (superb disc, only version with DTS)

5.La Fidelite (spectacular Zulawski, nearly 3 hours)

6.Etore Scolla's award-winning Le Bal

7.Chris Marker's Medvedkin intro

8.Caligulla SE 2DVD (uncut, fantastic image)

9. La Chambre des officiers 2DVD (beautiful story)

10. EVA

11.Claude Sautet's Nelly et Mr. Arnaud

12. The Miklos Jancso set (this for me is a must have)

13.Benoit Jacquot's TOSCA (pretty much the perfect disc)

14. the Alain Resnais' boxset

15. Tony Gatlif's very difficult to locate Je suis né d'une cigogne and Vengo

and so on....

Ivan's Childhood in Aussie land uses the same newly restored print MK2 have. This disc:

Most of the features on that are also on the U.S. DVD. The ones exclusive to it -- a French Annaud commentary and another documentary -- apparently have NO English subtitles.
