buying dvds

hey i am new to this, and was wondering whether there are any good dvd websites for buying obscure foreign films, ideally with eng subs and not dubbed, but that is the ideal. i am particularly into french films, but am interested in expanding my whole world cinema range. any region of course. thanks

depends where you live. R1 USA DVDs contain a lot more choice than it might first appear to. the UK seems to release more of the european stuff than america does though, and you can order through amazon.co.uk if you have an amazon account elsewhere (.com for example) - the general rule would be that the country in which the film was made is likely to provide the best DVD of it, but many may not subtitle them into english though...
