I hope this is really true, I would gladly import it as it would be the only OFFICIAL release of the film that I know of on DVD anyplace in the world. Hopefully it has a Widescreen transfer!

After an exhausting online search in Brazil search engines, this is all I found from a DVD site: Howard: O Super Herói (venda direta) * 24/01/2007 -- what that means I do not know but it looks like a street date of some kind, and it's listed under Universal.

I saw this discussed in another thread and spent a good 1/2 hour looking at DVD purchase sites in Brazil and found nottin. Purely a rumor at this point unless someone scoops up something huge.

Yeah, I saw that. If this is WS, I may be all over this. I refuse to wait for a DVD in the USA and have faith that it will materialize.

It'll probably be dubbed in Brazilian!
No - but it could be in Portuguese.

Yeah, isn't Brazilian a hair style rather than language?

Thanks to kpoem for the info, what scares me about this being 4x3 is that this video transfer could indeed be ripped from the bootleg copys of HTD or directly from the old Laserdisc copy to create much better video quality. I hate to say it but I will probably be holding out on this release! But if it pops on eBay I may buy it because at least it will be an official release.

Hello Dear DVD Luver and Rogue588,

Was left a note in JORNAL DO VIDEO and VER VIDEO from Brasil, that inform by Marketing of UNIVERSAL HOME ENTERTAIMENT BR was working about quality transfer for 2 years and the choice about FULLSCREEN and OPTIONAL DUBBED in Portuguese was just because that this is a Movie for Childrens and Family Fun. But they had forgotten that the children had grown )

Well, I understand but the smart move for Universal Brasil would have been to try and do a unique Anamorphic Widescreen transfer and it would be the only version of the film on DVD made available in Anamorphic Widescreen. They could have sold a ton of them to all grown up USA buyers , 2 years for a studio is plenty of time to work on a superb transfer for any film. Instead people from the USA may just settle for the Full Screen bootleg/unofficial releases off of eBay or Amazon. So, it seems like this may have been for now a wasted oppurtunity by Universal Brasil.
