Efter Brylluppet (Denmark)

Susanne Bier's latest project Efter Brylluppet a.k.a After the Wedding (2006) is set to arrive in Danish shops on August 28th (English subs inlcuded). Susanne was responsible for the outstanding Dogme-production Open Hearts as well as the more recent drama starring Connie Nielsen Brodre a.k.a Brothers (2004). Mads Mikkelsen on board

Just watched this one......excellent film. I haven't seen "Open Hearts" but I have seen "Brodre". "Brodre" was a commendable film but, in comparing the two, I quite clearly preferred "After the Wedding"....I think it felt far more genuine. The acting was really top flight, and the film had a solid emotional hook to it. The film is a relationship drama but dry it is not....I actually found it had, in its own way, a high level of low simmering mystery/tension/suspense. "After the Wedding" was a most pleasant surprise and exceeded my expectations.
Conveniently available with English subs via CD-WOW (just search the Danish title).

Having seen all three of them Open Hearts is definitely the best one! It's a shame that the film received near zero publicity in the US.

I'm with Pro-B on this one, as 'Open Hearts' easily gets my vote as the best of the three. Personally, I was rather disappointed in 'After the Wedding' in comparison to Bier's previous two.
