HMV.co.uk doesn't remove VAT!
Hi
I was about to place an order with HMV.co.uk until I discovered on check out that they are no longer removing VAT.
Quote from their site:
"The prices payable for goods are as set out in the web site, exclusive of VAT"
Anyone else spot this?
This now makes them completely uncompetitive with Amazon.

It sounds as if there is no VAT to begin with, but it will be added by your own country where necessary. Looking at their site, it seems that they are registered in Guernsey, which unlike the "UK" in the website's title, is not actually part of the EU and therefore doesn't come under UK, French (or indeed any other EU member state's) tax laws. So it all depends on what your own country's rules are on VAT/import duty etc., but to start with these seem to be VAT-free prices so therefore there is none to remove...

Their "the price you see is the price you pay" policy has been in effect since they moved (as explained by Dazza) nearly a year ago. As many of us noticed, they removed the VAT from the prices, but seemed to raise them correspondingly.
I've been very satisfied with amazon.uk and they now get all my UK orders.
