The US version is supposed to be released this year, isn't it?

2007, acc. to the HTF-Warners Chat.

(edit-Well, I thought they said 2007, but now I can't find any mention of it. Hell, I don't know. Never mind. You kids get off my lawn. )

They don't ship outside of Europe, but no doubt someone else will...

I would be very careful here. This looks like VHS. Nobody else in the UK seems to offer a DVD although the VHS is widely available.

I wondered about that too... although it seems that the site only sell DVD. In any case, a quick enquiry email before buying wouldn't be a bad idea.

According to this site: http://www.kenbranagh.com/news.htm

« February 6, 2006
WB's Ronnee Sass continues to assure us that Hamlet will be released within the next 12 months.»...
"Our commitment to releasing HAMLET is 100% but remastering and production schedules may force a delay.
It will be out within the next 12 months -- we must be able to have the time necessary to release it properly.
We do hope you understand. Please be patient. It will be worth the wait."

"We are actively working on this release but still don't have a firm release date. It's likely to be out in the next 12 months or so."

I hope WB used the original 65mm source... (fingers crossed).

Still. No. DVD

Are they even trying to release it in 2006? Are they waiting for a Blu-ray or HD-DVD winner before comitting to a format?

You know, I keep forgetting about this movie. I haven't even *seen* it yet. I remember the struggles I had trying to find it on laserdisc because it was (a) pressed in small numbers (b) expensive and (c) from the Sony plant that was causing so many rot issues in the 1990s. I never did find a copy where all the platters worked, nor did I manage to piece together a working set from several non-working (although I tried that too).

No fear, I thought -- there's always DVD! And I waited, and waited, and waited. It's been 10 years... and I'm still waiting.

wait... I'm a tad confused, this was released by Castle Rock Entertainmemt via Columbia/TriStar theatrically, yet the video rights are from Warner Bros, how did this happen?
