The Last Emperor - which version ?

does anyone know which version is the best to get ?

I came across this :

http://www8.cd-wow.com/detail_resul...&subcat=region2

Would anyone know the transfer quality of that particular set ? It contains both cuts of the film. DVDbeaver only has comparison between r1 and french r2.

The French set clearly beats every known version on the market.However...I would not consider buying anything at this point as I believe that Artisian have been working on a restored cut of the film for quite some time. I don't have any dates or specs to provide but you could take my word for granted that a SE R1 is on the horizon.

thanks pro-b,

the specs/extras on that set I linked to seem to be identical to the french mega set though. I might just try it out given it's only $20AU after coupons.

I hope that happens. The current R1 is unwatchable on a big screen. The VHS version is probably better
