Lucas Belvaux: One Two Three Trilogy??

Has anyone seen any of the three movies in the trilogy, and would like to comment on them?

I have seen all three of them and I think that all 3 films are very well-put together. With this said I found it hard to follow all of the main protagonists in each of the three films (they are rather loosely related). Everything else however is rather well presented....narrative, acting, script (s).

I am not sure how else to respond to your request without approaching the Trilogy with a detailed review...so hopefully this should suffice. If you need any specific info though ask. (For the record the Benelux package has a better cover work).

cd-wow doesn't carry this I'm assuming?

Thanks, Pro-B. ;)

You seem to be one of the few in the forum who has a soft spot for foreign films. Not many Americans has that due to language and subtitles.

Lucas Belvaux said he had the reflection "What are the characters doing when they're out of the field ?". The idea is 3 stories, 3 couples, 3 genres (comedy, thriller and drama), different cuttings for each movie (made by different people) and the main actors in one movie become supporting actors in the other two.

Sounds like a great concept. Somethíng Lars von Trier could have thought up.

Have you seen, though? Still thinking whether I should buy it or not. The concept sounds very intriguing.

It's a brilliant set of films (which you can watch in any order incidentally).

If you search this forum you'll find lots of comment on the available DVDs.

This was quietly released in region 1 a couple weeks ago. I doubt the quality is as good, but it's cheap - 14.96 at DeepDiscount.

I've seen "An amazing couple" (Un couple épatant) in theatre and "On the run" (Cavale) on DVD and I surely will buy this set. A friend of mine told me I have to watch the 3 movies to really appreciate the different aspects of the characters and their relationships. Anyway I like Lucas Belvaux as an actor (Allons z'enfants, Désordre, Poulet au vinaigre) and the cast is great, in particular François Morel (Le bonheur est dans le pré), Catherine Frot (Le dîner de cons, La dilettante, Chaos) and the great Dominique Blanc (Indochine, Milou en Mai, La reine Margot, Total Eclipse, Le pornographe).

I just picked this up and for the price it's pretty much what you'd expect... non-anamorphic (though widescreen) transfers with burnt-in english subs and no extras... although I am surprised that it doesn't seem to be taken from a PAL master as I would have expected. The first two films are included on one disc and the final film has the 2nd disc all to itself. Not the greatest release BUT for the price it has to be expected... it allowed me to see the films without spending alot of money on the R2 boxset, and I imagine it won't be a problem for tube viewers. Good thing on my 16x9, the subtitles were included above the black border so zooming in wasn't a problem.
