Der Untergang (Downfall) - Extended (TV) Edition

DVD Talk Gold Edition
I was counting this as yet another "straw on the camel's back" (meaning, October is going to be an expensive month), but I just noticed that neither site is listing this as having English subs. Is that correct, no English subtitles?

It's on TV here in the UK this month I've read.
I'm quite happy with the original German DVD but I'll record the TV version to see the difference.

DVD Center lists the soundtrack as "Dolby Surround" -- so we're just going to have to wait and see.

Yes. I copy and pasted that info from Amazon. I thought that had something to do with English subtitles but wasn't too sure.
Danke.

In Holland the Extended Version of Der Untergang comes on November 24th as a 3-disc set with the movie´s soundtracks being Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1
The only thing is that there are only dutch subtitles available.

Sent this email to Karsten at www.areadvd.de:
Hello,
My German is not very good, and I assume your English is better.
I am wondering if the upcoming 3 disc DVD for the incredible “Der Untergang TV Version” will include English subtitles.
I have researched this and found the following:
“DVD 1: Enthält die TV-Fassung von 175 Min. Optional deutsche Untertitel für Hörgeschädigte (Colortitle), Optional englische Untertitel für Hörgeschädigte, Optional Audiokommentar Bernd Eichinger”
Does this mean English subtitles? Or English audio description subtitles?
Kind Regards,
donsrule
Got this reply:
These are english subtitles, no audio description.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen

This is a customer review from amazon.de translated at babelfish:
The 3 hours of version of "the fall" offers many interesting details and additions in the cinema version unfortunately "to the shears" to the victim please are. Thus certain events are more near described or introduced and/or represented persons more deferenzierter.
That is very beneficial for the historical accuracy this film and improves the anyway very good film still once strongly.
I as a historical student with emphasis "third realm" am very gladly finally into the benefit of this version to come to the reading of "up to the last hour" (boy, Traudel) and "Hitler - one recognizes a balance" (celebration, Joachim) fast that many details and leading in the film were strongly shortened and/or gerafft.
Only military courage drop of these DVD: Differently than the cinema version this DVD dd does not offer 5,1 separates only the outdated Dolby Surround format. According to manufacturer this is because of the fact that 5.1-Abmischung existed however am not I - and many other DVD fan - that opinion that this a genuine argument is not, since other productions (e.g. "the boat - Directors CUT") very impressively prove that a qualitatively high-quality new merging is quite possible and be worth worth!

Just received this from Amazon.de yesterday. It does NOT have English subtitles. It has German only. It is 16:9, 1.78 or 1.85, I didn't measure. Also, the case lists the running time as 175 min but it's 170 min.
