experience with high-end mod's DVD Players?

I am going to buy an overhead/front project for my HT room. Want to get a top quality DVD player, but have some R2, 3 and PAL DVDs that today I am watching via a cheap cyberhome 300.

Pretty much decided on the Denon 3910 player when I was debating on how to upgrade to watch my non-region 1 stuff. Then I saw on HKFLIX that they mod a Denon 3910 for about $300 above the typical price of the 3910. The price doesn't bother me as much as what does this mean for quality and warranty?

Doesn't the mod nullify the denon warranty?
Has anybody bought high-end modded equip from HKFLIX (or anybody else for that matter)?

On one hand, this seems too good to be true - the ultimate player for me. On the other hand, this sounds dangerous as I could be losing critical Denon support for firmware upgrades, trouble shooting, etc.

Any experience or advice people can share?

Thank you for listening.

have bought a toshiba and momitsu modded by hkflix. both have done a good job. i'm almost positive denon will not honor a warranty for a modded player. way too much money to throw down for a dvd player at this point w/ hi-def right around the corner. the Oppo Digital they have looks real nice for the price. The momitsus also have great image quality, but the remote control is beyond terrible. whatever choice you make will blow away that ol' cyberhome.

Denon's are modified with a 2 second firmware upgrade. Technically you are voiding the warranty but you can always flash a R1 firmware update over top anyways.

I bought my JVC from HKFLIX about a year ago and it's worked great for me. Plus they shipped it really fast. I ordered on a Saturday and had it Monday.

I haven't looked up the 3910, but my 2900 only required a firmware upgrade from a European R0 model. I probably would not have done it on this unit if I had to go with a hardware mod.
