Yet another Dune 'Special' edition DVD, this time from Spain:
http://www.zonadvd.com/modules.php?n...ticle&sid=2957
Due for release on the 23 Nov 2005
Here are the translated details
2 Disc boxed set (Region 2)
Video: 2.35:1 16/9 Anamorphic
Audio: Dolby Digital Stereo (English, Spanish, Catalan)
Subtitles: Spanish, Catalan
Publisher: Manga Films
Disc 1
======
Theatrical Movie (remastered) 137 min,
Extras: Trailers, Making of, Production Notes, Early designs gallery, Pictures gallery,
Artistic file, Technical file, Selected filmographies, David's Lynch Biofilmography, Dune's expressions Glosary
Disc 2
======
Extended Movie (188 min)
Extras: History of the Extended Version, F. Herbert's Dune Saga, Preparing the DVD
Given that the running time is 188 for the extended version I suspect that it'll be sourced from the recent French release [Most extended version are 177mins, but the French release was split into two parts, with credits at the end of part 1, and titles/recap at the start of part 2, like the old Japanese LD]
I'm trying to get a hold of more info, I'll post it if I get any further details.

"Dolby Digital Stereo" is very disappointing. The other content doesn't sound like it's anything not available on the French Ultimate Edition. The packaging is... OK. Obsessive collectors like me will probably have to buy it, but I think everyone else is better off with the French disc.

There is a review (in Spanish) of the new Dune DVD from Spain at:
http://www.zonadvd.com/modules.php?n...&id=481&page=1
From what I can make out of the Google translation the best thing about the DVD is the box!
Oh well, the American release is due out next month... hopefully that'll be better.

I've managed to get a hold of the press release for the Dune Extended Edition, which contains a bit more information on the extras.
-------------------------------------------------
DELETED SCENES WITH AN INTRODUCTION BY RAFFELLA DE LAURENTIIS
Producer Raffaella De Laurentiis explains to the viewer that no final cut ever existed outside of the theatrical release. Along with deleted material from the film.
DESIGNING DUNE
Insight into Dune’s visual design as it was developed by director David Lynch and production designer Anthony Masters, including original sketches and paintings.
DUNE FX
From explosive pyrotechnics to the mechanics of the fighting robot this is a look at the process of visual effects artists.
DUNE MODELS
Model Supervisor Brian Smithies explains the unique challenges of bringing the models to life on Dune.
DUNE WARDROBE
Bob Ringwood and others explain how nearly 4,000 costumes were designed for Dune.
PHOTOGRAPH GALLERY (over 90 pictures)
Never Before Seen Behind the Scenes Photographs and Original Artwork
-------------------------------------------------
Complete details here:
http://www.duneinfo.com/giedi_prime/dvd_extended/
For some reason the press release says:
"Picture: Anamorphic Widescreen (1.85:1)"
Weird huh?
