Danny The Dog / Unleashed (Jet Li, Bob Hoskins)

First, why the hell have the messed with the name? The film's already been released as Danny The Dog (as have the CDs and websites etc). Complete madness.

Anyway, I see there's a Region 0 DVD release in China. Anyone got it? Is it Mandarin only?

I am going to see this in theatres tonight.

So is the North American version the same as the original, or are there any cuts?

Apparently there are a few cuts but nothing major. The changes are mentioned in this thread: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=422390

I think I saw where the French DVD release is slated for August. Are there anyother english soundtrack releases available prior to that date?

The Mainland China release of Bulletproof Monk had a hidden English track, maybe this one does too.

I asked him to try the audio options, but didn't bother asking him to analyze it in a PC. I've found shorts on dvd's by using a PC also, so I know where you're going with the hidden track idea. He did not see or find anything. I was actually going to get him to send me the disc and I was going to add English sub's myself to watch at home, but at the time he told me he had it there weren't any English sub's to be found. I can translate it, but I am not interested enough in this movie to waste my time translating it. I can wait for someone else to do it, or a release with English options.

I'll ask him again today to check for you on a PC to see if there are hidden tracks and I'll post when I get an answer.

Add English subs to a film in English that's been dubbed into a foregin language?

I'm sure you can wait.

Excellent news, but that price is high for a HK release.

Almost 2 months in preorder so I'd hope the price will fall.

That Chinese cover:

Sadly, they've dubbed over the English.

does anyone know if the R3 with that yellow cover will be the same cut as the "unrated" R1 release?

Review of the French disc here (click on "Cliquez ici pour accéder au site..." to go to the review)

Looks good and it also looks very similar to the cheaper Region 3 from CDwow.

what's the running time of the international cut versus the US theatrical cut. (out of curiousity).

I can't find a running time for the overseas/Euro version, but according to IMDb:

The European version is entitled Danny The Dog and includes some more scenes including more character development between Freeman and Li and a different title sequence.

it's not very likely that it'll be dubbed in Hong Kong. Hong Kong rarely dubs American/European movies.

Perhaps, but I linked to the mainland China release -nothing to do with HK.

A little more info on the Panorama HK release from CDWow. New artwork too I see.

Definitely a 2 disc set, DTS, DD5.1 and listed extras (61mins total apparently):

Full Length Action Scenes
Making Of
Theatrical Trailer
Making Of the Special Effects
Deleted Scenes
NG Footage
"Baby Boy" - Music Video by RZA

Looking good.

For those who didn't preorder when it was cheap ($16.95) from CDWow, www.dddhouse.com (DVDTalk affiliated) might be the best deal now.

If you use the $2.00 off coupon at cd-wow, it still comes in at $15.95 shipped. I've ordered from DDDhouse before, and while they're a lovely company, the shipping is usually a killer unless you order a boatload of titles.

CDWow sites (that I've just looked at) show either $23.95 or $21.95.

Great catch Shagrath! I thought I'd missed out on this at the lower price.

Daniel Windsor, it worked for me. Yes, the site shows $23.95 but use the $2 off link and it comes in at $15.95.

NOTE: it works for Ong Bak too!
