best place to get wong kar wai dvds?

I was wondering if anybody could tell me the best place to pick up some Wong Kar Wai dvds. I have In the Mood for Love (criterion) and Chungking Express (Tarantino cover) and would like to pick up Ashes of Time, As Tears Go By, Days of Being Wild, Fallen Angels and 2046. I know theres the r1 box set from Kino, but it seems overpriced for just the 5 dvds especially considering i already have CE. So any help in finding the best versions of these dvds for cheap would be greatly appreciated.

note: 2046 recently was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics and has a limited american release on august 5

Starting next week, Mega Star will release a new line called Golden Collection. I think their first release is Days of Being Wild. As Tears Go By will be released later on. The Korean 2046 LE has English subs on the extras and also includes the CD sountrack.

That leaves Ashes of Time and Fallen Angels. You can do what I did and just buy the Fallen Angels DVD alone. It's a bit pricey but it's a good movie. As for Ashes of Time, no decent copy exists. Just pick up the Mei Ah DVD, it's cheap, and cross your fingers for a better release later.

Check HK etailers for the Golden Collection DVDs, and Korean etailers for 2046.

thanks for the info.

at yesasia they have a sale where you can get three dvds for $8.99 a piece. i've picked out happy together Mei Ah, days of being wild Mega Star (i think its the pretty sure its the new one) and as tears go by Mega Star. i also found a $5 off coupon for the place. that would make the total about $27 shipped. thats sounds like a pretty good deal to me, what does everyone else think?

I have the Accent R0 Pal Fallen Angels disk and it is beautiful. Picked it up at ezydvd.com.au

Good news about the Golden Collection.

The Kino boxset is pretty nice if you're willing to spend the money.

Any hints if Criterion is going to release 2046? I want to see it again, but debating whether I should pick up one of the current DVDs or wait.

Sony Classics picked up the rights to this so I don't think we'll be seeing a Criterion. I have the Mei Ah R0 disk and it is very good.

Ya, that's the one I saw. It was very nice, so maybe I'll just pick it up and take my chances on a nicer release later. Thanks for the info.

Sounds like a triple dip for me.

The Korean LE for 2046 is a bit better than the Mei Ah disk. It's got the CD soundtrack and the making-of is subtitled in English. It's a really limited print run - 2046 copies - but if you can find it, I'd say pick that one up.

If you know French, I hear the R2 French DVD is amazing. The extras look a lot better than the Mei Ah and Fox (KR) DVDs.

Now, if only a decent version of Ashes of Time can come out...
