I certainly agree. I have the FE version and it's one of the few movies I've seen recently that really grabbed my attention. The Tartan version was just released to the movie theaters. There's a decent review from the L.A. Times here.

I'd put it under 'drama'. Of course it does have one of the greatest fight sequences I've seen recently, but its main focus seems to be to be the psycological changes oldboy has to undergo.
Guess one could also classify it under 'mystery', for that matter.
