Lemdog 02-03-06 06:20 AM

animatedude 02-03-06 07:00 AM

Fielding Mellish 02-03-06 09:04 AM

Wow. I just ordered a copy from Amazon.uk in January to play on my brand spankin' new Oppo. I was originally thinking of holding off on both purchases.

Glad I didn't.

Trigger 02-03-06 09:57 AM

thanks for the heads up.

asianxcore 02-05-06 01:18 AM

I waited too long to get this. Thanks OP. I'll have to order this sometimes soon.

Heliosphann 02-06-06 11:59 PM

Sweet. I picked this up about a month ago during the Bensonsworld sale!

Great set. My friend just ordered one from sendit.com.

DVDude! 02-09-06 04:34 PM

Anyone know where to get Space Precinct? It's been OOP for a while though.

Buford T Pusser 02-10-06 11:08 AM

Did you check CDWow? That's where I got my copy.

bboisvert 02-10-06 03:17 PM

Wow, glad I finally pulled the trigger on this purchase a few months back... I always have terrible luck (re: paying a $hitload of $$$) when tracking down OOP international titles.

I think I'll watch an episode or two tonight, while I caress the box. :)

By the looks of things, you'll need a mop and bucket. :p

Sendit has the following status 'SOLD OUT: Re-issue To Be Confirmed'

Comfort Eagle 02-10-06 08:02 PM

That sucks. Such an awesome show. I wish they would release it here in R1 so more people could enjoy it. That set is one of my favorites.

movieking 02-11-06 03:52 PM

Anyone know any place that might still have it in stock?

Trigger 02-12-06 09:49 AM

sendit put me on some nebulous pre-order... found it here, but no shipping outside of the UK - free shipping inside the UK however... don't suppose someone in the uk wants to hook everyone up?

FWIW, on the forums over at Spaced Out, the topic of the 3-disc set being withdrawn has been boiled down to these issues:
- Channel 4 is re-packaging their SE line overall
- The distributor VCI is being restructured(try going to www.vci.co.uk now - I assume it doesn't exist as a separate company anymore)
- And a legal issue with the Series 1 DVD will necessitate some sort of change in the disc credits
So hopefully we'll see some sort of re-release this year without any drastic compromises.

Attaboy Luther!

:p

movieking 02-13-06 12:12 PM

Might wait for the eventual rerelease in that case.

Trinitron 02-13-06 08:36 PM

Wow - I got this right after Christmas (on DEEP SALE, to boot) from Amazon.UK.

Sometimes you just get lucky, I suppose!

brainee 02-14-06 11:08 AM

Got mine in time too :) It was really a missed opportunity not having this out in R1 to go with "Shaun" -- though maybe they're holding out for the "Shaun" double-dip.

Here's a question about this set that maybe someone here can answer. It plays fine in my Oppo DVD player. But I tried to play it on my laptop (to show at my parents over the holidays) and the drive reported a disk error and wouldn't play (my laptop can play all regions, and I've done so many times). I tried a couple of other DVD drives and they all gave the same error. And all 3 disks of the set have the same problem. Is this some kind of protection scheme I'm facing here? It's really annoying, because all I'm trying to do is play the DVD on my laptop to show other people. Or maybe something else in going on? I don't know -confused-

Buford T Pusser 02-14-06 04:37 PM

It won't play in my home DVD player although most other non Region 1 stuff will. But it plays in my portable DVD player. Haven't tried the laptop or other home DVD player.

Doesn't everything have a double-dip? Seriously, I heard a report last year of a new "Shaun" SE DVD in the works for a 2006 release. From The Horror Channel's Dread Central (dated May 25th): (http://www.horrorchannel.com/dread/i...ticle&sid=1635)

Earlier in the month the chaps at Sci-Fi Wire had a sit down with Shaun of the Dead's Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg at this year's Saturn Awards where they got wind of a new Shaun Special Edition DVD that's in the works (read about that here).

Not knowing much about this disc, we dropped an inquiring line to Edgar himself who's busy at work on his latest feature film with some of his usual acting troupe (Pegg, Nick Frost, etc.). Edgar tossed this answer my way this morning...

"There will be a 'Shaun of the Dead' Special Edition, but not til next year," Wright confirms for Dread Central. "We want to make sure it's special. It will include a long version of our 'Land of the Dead' documentary - which is pretty fun."

Some of us theorized that Universal was gearing up a Shaun SE in time for Land of the Dead's June 24th release. Maybe the studio is now hoping to get it in our hands for Land's disc debut. No word yet as to what else we can expect in the way of extras on this new Shaun presentation.

Simon Pegg plans to bring Spaced back for an hour-long special.

The flatshare sitcom was last week voted the most-missed comedy on British TV by readers of Chortle.

But now Pegg says he, too, would like it to come back to tie up all the loose ends.

His comments came in a Radio 4 interview with Bill Bailey, who appeared in Spaced as Pegg’s boss, comic bookshop owner Bilbo.

He said: ‘What I really would love to do – and I really hope that we can do this at some point in the future – is one hour; finish it all off; tie up all the loose ends get everybody where they're gonna be. Because we know where they all end up; there is a history to all of them, including you.’
The full interview will be aired as part of Radio 4’s Chain Reaction series tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6.30pm.

The re-release date for the Spaced : Definitive Collector's Edition is July 3. It's up for pre-order at Amazon UK for the equivalent of about $26. (Can I get another "attaboy" from Mr. Pusser? :))
