R1 or R2 Shaun of the dead
I know I read a disscussion about this earlier but i cant seem to find that thread anymore.
Does anyone have the pros and cons of getting the R1 over the R2 ? I know the R1 has less commentaries but does it gain anything over the R2 ?
Thanks

From what I've seen it's exactly the same, just minus two of the UK discs commentaries, one with Bill Nighy and Penelope Wilton, and one with several zombie extras. They're not worth importing the disc for, imo, but if you're a completist they're not too bad.
The two included commentaries are with the co-writers/director(including pegg), the other is with all of the main cast(minus nighy and wilton).

I enjoyed the UK extra commentaries. The only thing the US disc has the UK one dosen't is that in the commentaries they can say the word c*nt.
Get the UK disc.

In the commentary with the zombie extras, are they in character? Is it just a bunch of grunting or moaning? Or do the actors actually give a real commentary?

I havent noticed anything like that on any of my PAL DVDs (shaun of the dead, immortel, prozac nation), if its real subtle though, it may be there and I just didnt hear it.

I will be double dipping on this for the R1. I wasn't happy with the jagginess that is apparent on the R2 (atleast with my player). There is a thread about this problem in this forum somewhere, IIRC only certain players seemed to be affected by it. I am guessing it is something in the PAL to NTSC conversion, but I don't really know.
Plus the movie is well worth supporting over here as well
