Old Boy Final Edition

I have been wanting to order Old Boy and I just saw the Old Boy final edition for pre-order on yesasia and was wondering if anyone knows if this is an extended version or not. Which version is the best one to buy (I am not interested in spending the money for the UE) so I am basically trying to decide between the normal edition and the final edition. thanks

At the moment it seems this Final edition isnt extended at all just a better transfer, just 2 of the dvds from the Ultimate 4 disk edition basically, but you never know it may have one thing not on the other editions.

If I didn't have the SE already, the FE would be the version I'd buy. No DTS but better transfer and more extras than on the SE. As it is, I'll live with the SE.

Depends if you like better audio or better video. The Oldboy SE is the only one with a DTS track (until Starmax announces the UFE - the Ultimate Final Edition!). The UE and the FE have a much improved transfer though. I agree with dleedlee that it's the one to go for.

Make your mind up quick - the SE is no longer in production. It's still available at a few places on-line but after existing stock is gone it's buh-bye.

There is no extended edition of the film. That was announced a long time ago but Chan-Wook Park later nixed the idea. The deleted scenes are included on the UE (I know) and the FE (I think).

Yeah, Looks like the Final Edition is just discs 1 & 2 of the Ultimate edition, with less features (For instance, none of the extra films on disc 2, and I believe some missing commentaries on disc 1).

I do like to have good sound since I have more money in my sound than I do my TV, but I think I will end up going for the final edition on this one. is there a big drop in sound quality?

Given Tartan's recent turnaround (their Audition transfer is stunning!), waiting for the UK release is probably a good option if you want subbed extras.

I heard Tartan's first US release will be the R1 Oldboy DVD.

Tartan USA's first releases will be "Phone" and "Doppelganger"
Oldboy will get a theatrical release in Feb. before the dvd.
