The region 1 dvd has a running time of 94 minutes according to several dvd sites. So I think you guys will get the theatrical version.
I guess we'll have to wait...

Wow, DTS, extended versions, 2-disc sets? R2 gets all the good stuff!

Japan is getting a 2-disc DTS set as well, but no extended version (run time listed at 94mins). Amazonjp has a pretty decent price (if you factor in the coupon)
I wonder if the extra footage is worth it.

German DTS 5.1
such a shame. such a waste
still It may be best to get it for the extended edit of the film thats for sure, its just a shame the film doesnt have DTS in the right language like the release of the 1st film in Germany.
Still more footage! mmmm nice as long as its good stuff.
Now how long till another country gets this edition? well maybe never as the Germans got the best version of Resident Evil as well, so this new cut may never apprear anywhere else!

Since this is Columbia Tristar, we will see many DVD releases for this film. It will probably be like Underworld, where the "extended" version is released later, as well as a Superbit.

The Japanese edition goes by the title "Biohazard 2". If this one follows the same lead as the first one, the movie's opening titles will also be altered to reflect the different title.

that's a totally absurd statement: know that this is a German release, after all, intended first and foremost for the German-language countries

Hey all I mean is the actual origanal soundtrack isnt the best it should be, dubs are shit in any country and I detest them as should most other people.
I want to hear the actual actors speaking the actual words, not some other person speaking other stuff. I know its for germany, but really thats no excuse, most countries get many versions of many films and its up to you what you watch, but for me and many other people I want to hear the real film, not a fake dubbed thing.
Dubs are for people who dont like Subs I guess, but its still not a thing I would wish on anyone, no matter how well done the dub is.
The origanal language is more impritant than any dub ever will be (to me).

2 DISC SPECIAL EDITION DVD BONUS FEATURES INCLUDE:
Feature Disc:
* Filmmaker Commentary with Director Alexander Witt, Producer Jeremy Bolt and Executive Producer Robert Kulzer.
* Cast Commentary with Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, and Sienna Guillory
* Writer & Producer Commentary with Writer/Producer Paul W.S. Anderson & Producer Jeremy Bolt
* Previews
Bonus Disc:
* 20 Deleted Scenes
* Cast Outtakes
* Game Over: Resident Evil Reanimated - A six-part making of Resident Evil: Apocalypse
* Corporate Malfeasance: Featurette on the real world similarities to the Umbrella Corporation
* Game Babes: Featurette on the emergence of female action stars in film
* Symphony of Evil: Featurette on the special effects used in the film
* Poster Gallery: A collection of winning submissions created by the finalists in the online poster design contest
Sound Format: 4:3 / 5.1 (I suspect a typo in this one
)Screen Format: LBX / 16:9
So most of the bonus features look like they might be there. The only real thing that is missing is the deleted footage integrated back into the movie and the dubbed DTS.

CDJapan's listings for "Biohazard II" and a nice-looking 2-pack of both movies:
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=TSDD-34799
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=BP-199
If I didn't already own the Japanese release of the first movie, I'd be tempted by that 2-pack.

Hasnt the American got one BIG problem, its got FullScreen and Wisescreen on one dvd! so for me that means they didt try hard enuff with the picture
It looks like with this film it may be best to wait and see which version turns out best, it could be a while mind you, but as I liked the film I may as well wait to see who is diclaired the winner, the Japanese version seems nice (expensive) and the German edition wins for tantalising new footage

I'm hoping the same company that produced the version below, is responsible for the Extended Release. They did a great job and were able to include 2 DTS and DD tracks (English and German)

Well, the Region 1 release streets December 28th and this extended version comes out in February so maybe we'll get a R1 double dip around the same time. Nemein, no one knows if the extended version is just the deleted scenes inserted into the movie, it could be like Dawn of the Dead where there was a bunch of footage added into the movie on top of a good amount of deleted scenes that were extra supplements.

its Sony, i will wait for the eventual and inevitable Superbit release to get English DTS. Hopefully they will put the extended version on the Superbit release to cause more people to double dip.
