A short promo disc is available in Japan right now
Called Steamboy: Starter Kit
The disc itself has some trailers,
a short making of, etc which you can rent free in Japan from video stores.
The Starter kit, if you buy it comes with a T-shirt, stickers, and a few additional things.
No word on a date for the movie itself

Hey - I resemble that criticism!
And where has it gotten "stellar" reviews? It was one of the biggest flops ever in Japanese history. After all, it is the most expensive anime ever, yet it opened at a pitiful #4 in the Japanese Box Office, behind POCKET MONSTER 2004 (ouch!) So far it is at #9, having earned a mere US$9million, not even close to half of the budget....
I watched the film on a screener DVD with fuzzy sound and that annoying "THIS IS A SCREENER" words popping up once in a while - very annoying. Maybe that's also why I enjoyed it less than I should have. The screener is legit, BTW - my boyfriend works for a cartoon subsidiary.
