Yes asia shipped mine on Nov. 26th and I still haven't gotten it. Does anyone know how long it takes? It was shipped with the free shipping and i live in texas.

DrGerbil 12-03-04 05:11 PM

Mine shipped November 24th and arrived yesterday, but I live on the east coast (NJ), so I imagine it would take less time for yours to arrive...

zatoichi 12-03-04 05:11 PM

has anyone tried e-mailing Starmax? I keep getting "mail delivery failure" when i try to e-mail 'em.

cooey 12-03-04 05:14 PM

Just have to wait for a reply I guess.... hope it's in English too ;)

I sent Starmax my info for the replacement cases and had no problems.

Regarding yesasia... after sending numerous emails, I finally received this:

I haven't e-mailed Starmax yet, I'm waiting to hear YesAsia's story first.

moonmadness 12-03-04 05:42 PM

Mine shipped on the 25th and arrived today. I'm in Wisconsin.

Is the layer change problem supposed to occur at (almost) the very beginning of chapter 13, after they get out of the car and walk up the stairs? If so, then there's just a brief split second of a pause with my Yamakawa 288k player.

DVDFever 12-03-04 07:11 PM

Yea, with my pioneer i pauses for a split second as well, no real problem as far as the disc go, my cases are messed up thoug. Im also waiting on reply from yesasia/starmax.

Trueno 12-03-04 07:31 PM

I sent an email to KoreanDVDs and all I have to do it send back the damaged items
2x Movie cases and DVDS
2x Supplement 1 cases and DVDs

And they will send me out new ones

What’s all this about greasy cases? Mine was a bit greasy but it does not bother me it also has some scratchers on it I think it adds to the look of it, it is ment to be ruff after all and not a spick and span polished case? If it was a highly polished case and it had scratchers on it then I would complain

Fandango 12-03-04 09:12 PM

Were the DVDs actually damaged as well or they are just making you send back the DVDs with any damaged cases?

Yeah, that's the same thing I was quoting, except I took it from the Official OldBoy site, http://oldboy.starmax21.co.kr

Could be good news, I sent the following to Starmax:

To: [email protected]
Subject: ¿Ãµåº¸ÀÌUE µðÁöÆÑ ±³È¯½Åû
Date: Fri, 3 Dec 2004 21:02:15 +0000

Hello,

I am in the USA. I have a damaged Oldboy UE. Will you send a replacement digipack to me?

If your answer is "Yes" then I will send my replacement request using your form.

Thank you

I received this message back:

From: "½ºÅ¸¸Æ½º" <[email protected]>
To: <>
Subject: [RE]¿Ãµåº¸ÀÌUE µðÁöÆÑ ±³È¯½Åû
Date: Sat, 4 Dec 2004 02:49:15 +0000

Please send to us your replacement request.

name :

adress :

Phone number :

Serial Number :

Problem :

Thank for your mail

STARMAX

Although the reply doesn't specifically state that they will send me a replacement, they didn't say no (or ignore my email like YesAsia). So it seems like they will be taking care of consumers outside Korea.

IMPORTANT: If you send an email to Starmax, make sure you copy and paste the following as your subject line:

¿Ãµåº¸ÀÌUE µðÁöÆÑ ±³È¯½Åû

You may need to install Korean fonts on your computer and change your browser's encoding settings to Korean in order to see these properly, but having the Korean characters in your subject line will help you bypass their spam filter.

Shintaro, I just have to thank you for all your help. You're a credit to the forum.

reggio@pacific. 12-04-04 12:04 AM

thanks for the update, ehonauer.

i dont think my set would arrive in time for december 20 deadline because of the horrible postal processes in my country..

my set would come from koreandvds, as a gift, i would like to know if the serial number is the set number (xxxx of 3000 units)?

please help fellow collectors.. :)

DrGerbil 12-04-04 12:18 AM

Know what? I may just resend mine to include that subject line... just in case. Great news, BTW!

Joe1086 12-04-04 12:26 AM

I sent another email with the Korean text, and I keep getting an email saying "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)." Anyone know why this is happening?

Edit: I think I got one through. Haven't gotten a notification yet. Before I was emailing them through my Hotmail account, I sent one using my normal email account. Seems that worked.

DrGerbil 12-04-04 12:36 AM

I have the Korean language pack installed, but mine also failed to be received.

No thanks needed, glad to help. Besides, I'm sure someone else would have done the same thing. :)

Good point on using Korean text in the Subject.
That would explain all the rejected emails people are getting.
EDIT: so they replied to you in English?

DrGerbil
When you send the email, are you sending it with the Korean text in the Subject line? Also, are you sending the email as is, or sending it as unicode?
Try sending as is.

Try sending as is.

I went to Options --> Mail Format (Tab) --> International Options, then switched "Preferred encoding for outgoing messages" to Unicode (UTF-8). It didn't work. I tried sending it as is... but, no dice. Going to try "Korean" next.

EDIT: Still not working, I will try a non-hotmail account.

zatoichi 12-04-04 01:21 AM

same here, tried everything still getting the "mail delivery failure" :(

ehonauer 12-04-04 01:24 AM

Shintaro, yes, they replied in English. If they replied in Korean you'd be translating it right now!

DrGerbil / Zatoichi, I don't think your bounced emails are from the encoding, it seems like Starmax has some heavy duty spam filters installed. Joe1086 kept bouncing because he was using a Hotmail account. Try using a different email account.

Very sensitive spam filters will also reject mail for reasons you can't do anything about (e.g. your ISP doesn't allow reverse lookups of its mail server's IP address).

If you're not seeing Korean characters but just a bunch of gobbledy-gook when you copy and paste the subject line, you probably need to have Korean fonts installed on your machine. If you're using Windows / IE and you follow the Starmax link I posted earlier in this thread, you should get prompted to install Korean fonts in order to render the webpage.

Yep. Used a Gmail account and the problem was solved. Here's hoping Starmax receives at least one of the two I sent! :)

Thing is... I see the official Oldboy site in Korean, but the subject text does not appear in Korean on my machine.

Picked up my set today, and for the most part, I havent had any of the problems mentioned.

I got my DVD Set in store and its a #15xx serial (Apparently none of the 3 they had in had any problems).

The DVD Plays fine through the "Chapter 13 bug" and any change is unnoticable..

The dvd boxes itself looks fine as well other than a real small indent on the top:

On top of that, no part of the case is greasy, nor has fingerprints or scratches.

Has everyone with problems ordered from yesasia?

cooey 12-04-04 02:30 AM

I just got an automated email from YesAsia about replacements.....
