The first two cases were scratched BADLY (the movie and first supplemental). I played the movie on my DVD-ROM drive and had no problems with Ch. 13. I will soon try it on my standalone player to see if the problem is more noticeable...
EDIT: I played the disk from Ch. 12 through Ch. 14 with no hiccups. The layer change at 13 was as smooth as any i've ever encountered. For those interested... I have a Toshiba SD-4900. I also sent a strongly worded letter to yesasia explaining the issue. Looking at the way this was packed, this headache might have been avoided if Starmax placed the piece of foam on the side of the rivets. Bah... |
Well, 2 emails have been sent to starmax en yesasia.
|
This is like some strange TV show :) I dont mind the scratches I must say, but the other probs are worse I guess, but I think my slimey greesed up case is still very bad! as whatever this crap is it has ruined a towel! I wiped my hands on! it wont wash out! nice:)

A way to clean the cases? this may get the finger prints out?
Tarnished Copper: Polish with a commercial polish for copper following directions on the container. Polish can be made at home by moistening salt with vinegar or lemon juice to make a paste for a bright finish or a paste of rotten-stone and olive oil for a dull finish. After polishing decorative items, spray with lacquer to preserve color if desired. What is rotten-stone? The stuff that is on the cases could be some type of lacquer? |

Shintaro, can you provide a link to the Starmax website where they announced the digipak replacement program?
I just spoke w/ YesAsia customer service and they didn't have a clue. The rep kept saying "We're out of stock, we can't get anymore." I think she finally understood about the digipak replacement program, but she wants me to email her the link to the Starmax site. She said they would accept returns on the product, but I told her if they do that they're going to get a lot of return packages, mine included, because most were damaged during shipping. If anyone wants to call YesAsia, they're at (888) 716-5753. Tell them you know the manufacturer, Starmax, is replacing the digipacks and you expect them to obtain replacements. She said her manager is in the Hong Kong office, the number there is (852) 2786-0817. I get the feeling they don't want to deal with this but if they think enough customers are upset then they're going to have to do something. |
I think I found it. Shintaro, is this it?
http://title.starmax21.co.kr/read.as...sID=5083&no=64 Update: YesAsia is out of stock now. |
this again leads me to believe what i said previously and that is that they do not read their emails.

Originally posted by BuddhaWake this again leads me to believe what i said previously and that is that they do not read their emails. Dear Cindy, Thank you for speaking with me today. Here is the information you requested. Because of the design of the Oldboy Ultimate Edition, the digipacks holding the DVDs are being damaged during shipping (copper rivets are tearing the cases). This is a well-known problem with the Oldboy Ultimate Edition, and the manufacturer, Starmax, announced on December 1 that they are offering free replacement digipacks for a limited time. Here is the website where they have announced the replacement program: http://title.starmax21.co.kr/read.as...sID=5083&no=64 This program only lasts through December 20, so please hurry in contacting them. If you cannot resolve this situation appropriately, it would cause me to be hesitant when placing orders with YesAsia in the future. If a manufacturer offers free replacements on defective items, I would think that an honorable and reputable retailer such as YesAsia would work with the manufacturer to replace the defective items, especially in the case of an expensive, limited edition set. Thank you for taking the time to investigate this. Regards, I'm really going to be like a dog with a bone on this. The only thing that will get this moving is outcry, so everybody give your friends at YesAsia a call today! |
I've been callin non-stop for the past hour or so but no one's answering their phones :(
...guess i'll keep trying. yeah i totally agree with ehonauer, EVERYONE give them a call and let them know that they better get on this thing or they're gonna lose a LOTTA customers. |

do they have some sort of chat w/ a CS availability in their site? or is it someone else? We Definately know they do not check or at least respond to their emails because I've sent 3 on different occasions and nothing (not regarding oldboy UE). and they don't answer the phone so...

I wouldn't go by the return policy on their site, this is a special situation.
If I don't hear anything by Monday, I'm calling the Hong Kong office. My set should be delivered tonight or tomorrow, so I'll know the extent of the damage then. |

ok, I just talked to someone at Yesasia and she had NO clue what's going on with these. She kept saying that the item is OOP blah blah. I let her know that the manufacturer is offering these replacement cases but since we're outside Korea we might not qualify so it falls upon the retailer we purchased it from(them) to obtain these and fix this blunder. She said she'll e-mail the maufacturer and then let me know what they say, but I don't really think she was taking this seriously at all. when i pushed saying "so when can i expect to hear back from u guys? should i call back? this offer is only good till Dec 20th! etc" she said "well since its Friday and all they might not respond to their e-mail till next week so..."
man, you'd think they'd have a direct contact # or something for Starmax since they purchased a bunch of these from them. i'm beginning to think that those of us outside Korea might not get replacements :( this sucks big time! I implore each and everyone of you who ordered from them to call them and let them know about this asap! they HAVE to know how many people are upset about this and the solution to the problem as well. otherwise, i'm afraid they won't do much until it's too late. Don't bother sending e-mails to Yesasia, they just ignore them...when i told her(as she had my account open in front of her) that I had sent at least 2 e-mails to all their depts. but never got a reply, her response was "oh ok" (!!!!??) |
