my sassy girl DVD on ebay region free?

i've been interested in seeing the korean comedy My Sassy Girl but haven't been able to due to the DVDs being region-3. there are now a bunch of DVDs on ebay that claim to be region free. anyone have any info on these discs?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...312388656&rd=1

this version seems to be made by a different manufacturer. Says it's be Zoke Video in China.

they claim it's not a bootleg.

just wondering if it's indeed region free. plus if the quality is just as good as the versions distributed in hong kong and in korea.

i've bought from foreign-movie-buff before and they claim their copies are 100% authentic, and I have never had a problem with them. All their releases are the real deal.

Don't worry, it is a legit copy from China

These are the features:
Introduction to the film by director Kwak Jae Yong and star Cha Tae Hyun
I Believe music video
Photo Album
Theatrical Trailer
Subtitles:Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional and English
Picture format:1.85:1 Anamorphic NTSC
Korean Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround

I must warn you that this 'Director's Cut' is still not the full director's cut

For that you must go with the Region 3 Korean release

from dvd compare:
The version on this DVD apparently varies slightly from the Director's Cut in that in two scenes and over the credits, it uses the song's used from the Theatrical Cut rather than the different songs that are present on the Director's Cut

thanks for the info. i really appreciate. now as long as it's truly region free, i think i'll get the DVD. does anyone know the video quality/transfer of the China made (Zoke Video) version compared to the Korean or HK (Edko) versions?

I thought bootleg discussions were not allowed... get a legit copy for less at yesasia. I believe the Edko is only $13.

Stay far away from the Zoke Video one. I have read bad things about the sound quality of that release. I would go for the Edko release, cause I think that one is the best release out of all of them. It may not have the best pq, but the subtitles are much better than the R3K Spectrum release. There are a few errors in the Edko release, but the Spectrum DVD that I also have, the subtitles got really bad and would not show at all in some of the dramatic scenes.

Pretty much any Mainland China release is going to be inferior.

Zoke is a legit company, but they do put out bootlegs (especially anime), so you have to be careful. Same can be said for foreign-movie-buff on ebay, who does sell some bootlegs too. You just have to know what you are buying first.

Bootleg discussions are not allowed and it is often said here that Region 0 + eBay = bootleg.

However, currently we have an assertion to the contrary quite early on in the discussion so I have been leaving the thead open.

Do you have anything definitive as to the DVDs legitimacy?

Well, i personally can't confirm the authenticity since I dont have that particular disc.

My last cent i will provide, is that the R3 Korean 2-disc is the best Director's Cut out there
and that is that.

If you can't handle Region 3 then get an all region player

Not sure about the DVD, but this seller's feedbacks look aweful.

Did you read the actual feedbacks? On the first few pages, there are quite a few negatives and neutrals, but only one which actually alleges bootlegging.

Now, reading those feedbacks, I'd personally be wary of buying from him, but it seems (from them) like your biggest worry would be whether it came or not, not whether it was a bootleg or not.
