i'm happy you did enjoy Immortel squint
guess you have notice why there's sometimes CG and why sometimes, there's true actors...
I just say that because i friend of mine went to Theaters and for the whole movie, he did not understand that...
he was so upset when i told you that that i think i went back to check by himself lol...

Immortel > October 26th (France : COOL CGI movie!)

yeh : so you can preorder from amazon.fr for £21 including postage if your (liek me) in the UK...

theres a great couple of trailers and a long clip at the site : http://www.immortel-lefilm.com/

really, this is top-notch CGI by the looks of it, similar in style to Casshern, and like that movie it may have had mixed reviews : but i guarantee you will at least be impressed by the footage even if you dont order it...!

I've seen this movie and while on paper it looks great, it's actually pretty damn bad. The combination of real actors and poorly done cgi actors really falls flat on it's face, and the script is so way out there, the movie is very hard to take serious. Best to be avoided, and do yourself a favour if you haven't seen the movie: don't spent alot of money on the DVD.

i think this could be good though : sure its odd and out there and maybe not to everyones taste but that doesnt necessarily mean a bad movie through and through... just an odd one which will hit with some people and miss with others... seen the trailer and clips and i think it looks great...

i would have liked your comments arguing the film is bad when the argument wouldnt be so "one sided" (i.e when i have seen it)... there are lots of films that cant be taken seriously, just like theres lots of comment on forums that cant be taken seriously... ahem.

Logboy:

I am currently not aware if there is a detailed English review of the film. Here's a short French review which pretty much sums up my feelings about this film:

http://www.filmdeculte.com/film/film.php?id=810

In my opinion Immortel is a film that does not surprise with an original plot or striking visuals yet I would not tag it a "disappointment" either. There is plenty that fans of this specific genre will appreciate and quite frankly many will be satisfied with the way Immortel looks. Furthermore, I believe that if this French production actually comes to the big screens in the US many might find it intriguing. My reaction was that the path which Immortel followed is rather well known hence at best I would give this film a solid B.

In the meantime if you are dying to see it and dont mind the poor overall presentation (dubbing, etc) the Russian dvd could be somewhat of a temporary fix. If you are fan of the genre however and dont mind spending a few extra $ which would guarantee you a top notch DVD presentation I would most definitely go for the French disc.

Can someone tell me what the quality of the Russian disc is like? Is it in widescreen or is there only a full screen version available? Thanks

It's 1.85:1 letterboxed (non-anamorphic). Looks very good.
