Region-Code Hacks for Malata-393A???

I just got a Malata 393A and, to my surprise (contrary to my expectation from reading this review), it's not region-free!!! The player displays the message "Wrong Region" and stops whenever I try to play a non Region-1 disk.

Is there any remote-control or firmware-upgrade based hack to make it play other-regions' disks?

The 393A is supposedly a better version of the 393.
The same code hack works. Thanks for the pointer.
