Got the weekly highlight today, a nice deal for those who don't already have these DVDs.

Malena + Irreversible for $19

I just picked mine up, since I've been curious about these two films for some time. After shipping, $12 per film isn't a bad deal at all.

Just wanted to share with the rest of the group. Mods, I'll let you add a link if you want.

Have they been censored? I worry about the disclaimer on the Koreandvds site and it seems it would be an issue for these two particular films.

Malena is only censored with Korean subs - they use an overlay that doesn't appear when English subs are selected. So it is essentially uncut and uncensored.

Irreversible is uncut but they do cover up some bits during the rape scene. Minor, I've heard. And this scene is also available as uncensored in the Special Features section.

Malena is strongly recommended because it's the only uncut and uncensored version w/ English Subs.

But avoid the Irreversible Korean version. There are several scenes that are subject to censorship.
Get the US or Canada or even UK Version, instead.

That's the whole reason for the sale. They have been trying to get rid of their copies of that DVD for a long time now.

They should call it The "Monica-Gets-Beaten-To-A-Bloody-Pulp-2-Pack"

I want the Malena but I don't think I could stomach another Irreversible viewing.

Irreversible is quite frankly the worst version of the film that you could buy (for multiple reasons).

Avoid.

Can you please elaborate as to what those multiple reasons are? I've read only the shot was censored, according to DVDComparison.

If you look closer the disc shows a substantial amount of "ghosting" due to improper PAL to NTSC conversion.

For example:

1 Marcus and the Taxi scene...

2. The group walking towards the train at the subway (before the party).....etc..
