Not sure on a Canadian version, but having a region 2 release of the film myself (with French audio and an English
dub, though the latter entails large yellow forced French subs) I can say that you might be a bit disappointed in the
look of the film when you finally see it in it's entirety. It has the look of the old CG saturday morning kids show Shadow
Raiders: War Planets. The animation is fairly stiff and imo isn't even up to par with the CG used in a lot of recent video
games. The trailer made it seem a lot more promising.

If you were in the States I was going to recommend NicheFlix to you as they have the French disc....but you are in England......
For the record....this is one of the few films where the English dub is actually quite good.
French art-

You could do a search about my old thread regarding this title......

Hi Pro Bassoonist,
being new to these forums I'd like say thanks for all the great import info you post

I also wanted to let you and others who may be interested know that the version shown in one of your posts on the title (Kaena The Prohpet (Kristen Dunst) and The Rain Children) is the same that I purchased, and it unfortunately does have forced French subs when you choose the English dub (English subs are not available at all). You also can't choose to switch language tracks on the fly, and must return to the audio menu to do so

Richard Harris (in his last role) and Kirstin Dunst were on the English dub, and that's the version they were screening here in New York, so it's gotta be good judging from the favorable reviews.

I saw the movie and liked it quite a bit. The sound effects were very well done and the bass was exceptional. The CGI animation was done very well and the story line was fairly entertaining.

psst, the R1 edition has a great trailer for Steamboy !!
also what is up with this version not having the original French language track? You would think with the respect towards Japanese anime (films and OVA's) and including the original language tracks on the R1 US DVD editions, this would include other films of this genre that aren't in English either... oh well.
I'll let y'all know what I think of the film after I finish watching it tonight.

oh I guess that Nicheflix is wrong then, since the French DVD is denoted as having both English and French 5.1 audio tracks. (with forced French subtitles - go figure?!).

I wouldn't be surprised if the French DVD had a French dub track.
Something similar happened with Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. The Japanese DVD contained a Japanese dub track, even though the original language track for it was the English one.
Even odder is The Animatrix R1 DVD, which has a Japanese audio track with English subs, even though the English track is the original one for all the shorts.

Nicheflix's info and specs are 100% correct.
