Full Metal Yakuza QUESTION

I just bought the Region 1 version of this movie. The parts where they show male or female 'parts' they blur it out. Is there something wrong with the movie, or is this some kind of censorship they do overseas?

It's what Takashi Miike wanted, I'm sure. The guy has such an offbeat sense of humor, I'm sure he put that in himself. I personally found it hilarious.

Actually...

it's both. Miike filmed it with the knowledge that it would be censored by the government. So in otherwords he used the censorship in his favor.

Asian countries have a long standing ban on male or female full-frontal nudity in movies. Some other Miike films with optical fogging are Visitor Q and Ichii The Killer. Many releases of European or US films are censored in Japan as well.

Didn't they just recently lift this ban in Japan?

I believe it's not illegal anymore, but many studios voluntarily continue to censor genital nudity.

miike fogging

miike often uses off visual effects like fogging / blurring / pixelation... see also "agitator" barber shop scene... blurred out.
