DVD Talk Legend
It's one of the films I've been waiting for...
There's a trailer and info here - http://www.asiandb.com/browse/movie_...552&mode=stuff
The one I'm waiting for more than this is Taegukgi which is like a korean Saving Private Ryan. http://www.asiandb.com/browse/movie_...541&mode=stuff

It got amazing reviews, so expect a HK and possibly a Japan version. It'll likely get a US and UK release as well. It did big numbers in Korea.

Silmido broke Korean boxoffice records only for taegukgi to do the impossible and break the record again right after Silmido was coming to the end of its cinema run.
Both movies have gotten favourable reviews and the LE silmido set looks fantastic ... preorder or you will be disappointed.

I'm very lucky. The set is coming out on the 14th of July and I'm going on vacation a few days later, so I'll have time to buy it.
No word yet on when Taegugki will be released, though.
By the way, both movies are awesome. In theatres, NOBODY had a dry eye in the house, especially for Silmido.

Does Koreandvds charge your credit card immediately on pre-orders or do they wait until the item is in stock?
Also, how quick is their shipments to the US?

Both the LE and SE are listed as 3-discs. I am assuming that the video content is the same and that the difference between the two editions is in the packaging. DVDAsian lists the special features of the limited edition as:
- Photo with frame (autographs by actors and director)
- Special book
- 6 Postcards
- Deluxe Case
Does anyone have any more information regarding this? I'm wondering if its worthwhile to get the LE. I don't care about the photo, book or postcards. I MAY care about the "deluxe case" depending on how it differs from the SE.
I am looking forward to this one. More so than Taegukgi (which I'll also buy).

Bugger just tried out my Sil Mi Do and the beginning isnt subed in english!
its about a minute of text, and I have no idea what it says as no subs in english come on! thats a big bugger, wonder what the hell it was suposed to say
its bound to be a history lesson for us all, as I have no idea what the films about really, and all the text has dates and stuff in it so I guess its a short history lesson about whats coming up, but not subbed.

The prices on the Silmido LE went up about a week ago at DVDAsian and YesAsian. KoreanDVDs was out of stock for a while, they have it now but it's $44 ($30 + $14 shipping), which seems to be the going rate from most retailers now.
I got mine on Monday - it's a big fat package, about as thick as 5 amaray cases. The autographed frame comes in a separate box that is secured to the back of the DVD case with an elastic cloth strap. My framed picture is different than the one seen in the image below, but is a similar style - stark black / yellow, with the autograph etched into the picture. The DVD case is hard cover, and the triangular flap on the front is a magnetic snap flap. Nice package. I imagine there's some difference between the SE and LE case, since the LE case has to accomodate the book and postcards.
Haven't had time to watch it yet, but I browsed the first disc. The menu is not the easiest to navigate. This is the first Korean DVD I've seen without English options, and the menu's "creative" layout makes it a little hard to get around (which of these vertical and horizontal lines of text turn on the English subtitles?). However, it's pretty easy if you just use the buttons on your remote.
I noticed the lack of subtitles on the opening crawl. Seems like the disc was authored in a weird way, like the opening is not part of the movie, but is a forced intro, like an FBI warning. If I recall correctly, there was a message attached to the film after its release when relatives of the real Silmido troop complained, since they were all portrayed as hardened criminals (which they were not). If you go to the chapter menu and select the first chapter, the intro isn't displayed, so obviously it's not part of the movie.

Love the package, I bought it locally in San Diego at Sing Young Music. I watched it last night, pretty good movie and probably even more enjoyable if you understood Korean since you might have more knowledge on the story that prompted this movie re=make. The LE is definitely a collectible...this is one of the reasons why I love collecting Korean BoxSets!
