Street Trash

Here's some extreme bit of cinema for the gore-fans, the infamous STREET TRASH is now available on DVD.

The DVD offers English DTS track and for those that care the French subs are removable. Special Features include- ....and....

* Présentation du film (3mn12)
* Les effets spéciaux : interview de Guillaume Castagné et Frédéric Lainé (8mn56)
* Un point de vue sur le film : Interview de David Neiss et Michel Leray (9mn14)
* Interview audio
o Roy Frumkes (33mn32)
o Nicole Potter (6mn26)

While not my cup of tea this title has generated some interesting discussions over at the Euro boards most probably inspired by the recent Haute Tension hence my post here. If fluent in French here's a nice synopsis-

Cheers,

Let's just say that back in the days this film looked so gorry I dont even know how they released it. Anything you could think of in terms of gore, slash, hack-em-all....is here. Funniest thing is that I attended a lecture for a film course (it was probably more than 10 years ago) where they cited this film as one of the worst and sickest ever made...not sure how true this statement really is but...let's just say that this film is....different!

Some of those screenshots are, to me at least, reminiscent of The Toxic Avenger in their goofy goriness...

The Director James Muro is actually quite well known...he has been the camera man behind such projects as:

X2
Titanic
Heat
Casino
True Lies
Terminator 2
The Abyss
Maniac Cop

....so he is not exactly a "nobody" when it comes to FX. James Cameron seems to have liked his work quite a bit.

Sounds like a 2 disc set should be coming out in the US sometime.

Is this release the uncut 102 minute version or the cut 91min release?

I dont know if any of these running times is to be believed but there appear to be a German version-102min, UK-101min (both versions full screen only) and the French one-97min according to devildead-

http://www.devildead.com/indexdbtop....=1&FilmsID=635

Fnac however indicate a running time of 91min....

In my opinion all of these are incorrect.

Well, with Pal-Speedup if the French release is 97min, that would equal up with the 102 minute uncut version.

I would be very, VERY surprised if the French version is cut...I can't even imagine such thing....not with their treatment of films.

The Dragon German version is NTSC Region 0; the menu is om German, but easily navigable. Splatterklassiker indeed.

How funny. I saw this when I was a kid. I thought it was a popular film on the underground, kinda like Troma films and Repo Man. Gimme some Viper!

Personally, I would wait for the promised double disc region 1 edition from Synapse:

oh and by the way, I haven't seen this film in ages, since it first came out on video some years back.

"Street Trash" rocks! It my opinion, it is the absolute ultimate in its genre, miles ahead of anything that Troma (whose releases can sometimes be pretty good) has put out.
