New T2 DTS Japan?

CDJapan lists this available on 6/25/04:

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=GNBF-5014

Is this just a reissue of the old Japanese DTS disc, or something new? I would love to see a disc that combines the picture transfer of the Extreme Edition with a nice DTS track.

Price Down Reissue. Many of the Pioneer DTS catalogue titles are available via this campaign.

Thats just a reissue of the original Ultimate Edition release in Japan. The release that contains the fullrate track is the original Pioneer disc of the theatrical version, which has been reissued about 3-4 times now. I have the one that came out for the T3 cinema release, featuring the transparent orange slipcase.seen here,

Brett C, does the version you linked to have the full bitrate track? And what is the item number (PIBF) for that one?

Yes that is the fullbitrate version with a very classy looking slipcase, and the PIBF is 91219.

Thanks Brett C, how is the picture quality on that release? It is Anamorphic, right?

The picture is 16/9 encoded, and is comparable to the quality of the Ultimate Edition release. Its been out for quite a few years now.
The sound on the disc is just a port of the original discrete cinema mix, before it was remixed by the film's sound designer Gary Rydstrom for the Ultimate Edition release. Comparing the two reveals additional LFE for poignant moments, surround channel redistribution and incorporation of the back surround for the Ultimate Edition, though I'd also say, the high and midrange sound slighty more transparent during the music passages on the Japanese fullbitrate version.

I have the Ultimate Edition already so it's probably not worth getting it, right?

Thats up to you I guess, I have about 3 or 4 different discs of this film! I had to get the fullrate DTS version so I could hear it for myself.
