Fifth Element "Advanced Collector's Edition" R2 Japan

Not that I really need another copy of this movie, but it would be nice to find a release that combines the picture and sound quality of the R1 Superbit with the extras from the R2 UK special edition.

Looks like it's just 1 disc, which doesn't sound too promising, but I wonder what the extras will be?

Interesting. One of the few movies I would like to see extras on.

Damn, could they have picked an uglier cover?

Well, from their site:
'Special Features: Japanese, French, & USA theatrical trailers, cast & staff bios, interview, gallery, making-of featurette (3 kinds), & more.'

Either the specs are very early and it is, in fact, a 2-disk release, or the 'and more' is just promo stuff for other movies. I'm actually surprised there's this much stuff on a DVD with a DTS track.

The German "Remastered Deluxe Edition" (2-Disc, incl. 6.1 DTS) is still the best edition, IMO

The UK Special Edition has better extras and a full bitrate DTS soundtrack.

Neither the German nor UK SE discs (both of which I own) has a transfer as nice as the R1 Superbit. They both have dirty film elements and plenty of compression artifacts.

I wonder what this "advanced collectors edition" stuff is. They're doing the same thing with Leon on the same date. Also amusing that over here, neither one is a Paramount picture.

The UK S/E doesn't feature a full bitrate track as far as I am aware

And what do you base that on?

Here's two reviews that state that it does have a full bitrate dts.

"Advanced collector's edition".

Uh... right on.

I'll wait for the "elitist snob's edition"
