Is there a more "complete" version of The Medallion available?

I just watched the R1 DVD and it seemed like it was severly edited and was dubbed in places that should have been subtitled. Well I checked around and apparently the original (or maybe international) cut was 118 mins (give or take a few mins) so that would mean the US is cut by 30 mins. Is this longer cut available anywhere? This is the 1 time I think a Jackie film needs more plot.

I don't think we'll be seeing the longer cut any time soon if ever.

It was roughly 88 minutes everywhere it came out. No place had it longer than that. It's not the US distributor that cut it, it was Columbia that told Jackie Chan and Gordon Chan to cut the thing. They also said no international cut, not director's cut on DVD. I mean, even the HK DVD doesn't have the cut scenes as an extra. Stick with your R1 DVD.

Well that sucks, the film had potential but it just was to short and had a ton of WTF moments that went unanswered. Like the whole thing with Lee Evans wife and it seemed like The Nurse should have had more. I think I could have liked this film better than The Tuxedo, but not in it's current form. At least The Tuxedo made sense.

Yeah, it relly irks me off, also. CTS hasn't done any really good movies in the past few years. Not that The Medallion would've been a masterpiece but it could've been a lot better. Gordon Chan and Jackie Chan have been making movies for so long, they know what they're doing. How CTS actually had the balls to tell them to trim down the movie is surprising to say the least. I'll stop now before it gets embarassing...

Just to say, when I heard CTS told those guys to snip the movie, I lost a lot of respect for them.

They had the balls because American studios see Asian cinema as substandard and subclass. "You don't know what you're doing, so we should take control for you since you're so new to this whole 'making movies' thing. Let the experts show you how it's done." Bastards.

That's why American studios are now downright copying what Hong Kong studios have been doing for 20 years?
